Barassis behaviour as a coach was renowned for being over the top and no way would it be condoned in this day and age, while Elliott was ruthless on the track and ruthless in business - although he is a contenter for GOAT Aussie sportsperson IMO.

Generally I hate cricketers. They are overpaid and have over-inflated opinions of themselves and the amount of trees killed to write about these morons is a disgrace. I know a bloke who worked for (insert name of well known sports agent) and he reckoned most of the cricketers were tossers and full of themselves.

The crowd figures for anything other than international cricket are rubbish and I reckon the ACB tell absolute porkies about the gate figures for state games. They say, 'oh, 3000 people were at the WACA to watch Tassie vs WA' and they show the highlights and all you can hear are three ppl clapping and theres no farker there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ponting was a complete clown. Always was. He had his brown hole licked out from about the age of 8 by every member of the cricket establishment. The only reason he changed was because he got a full time root. He mellowed out to please the missus. He hasnt changed though.

I'd sack him just to see how he responds. Hand the job to Hussey who is the true custodian of the game (in the Australian context).

Good coaches continue to challenge athletes. Sometimes that involves taking away things that were taken for granted. They either come back stronger or they fall away. That is sport.

Doesnt matter if you are winning or not. You still get oodles more respect than blokes like Ozman or Classic1 who have given up on the sport.....

eh, crits are hard to win, especially in bigger bucnhes. If the standard is high, you not only have to be fit, you've gotta be a decent sprinter, a smart 'positioner', and it sure helps to have big elbows and big cahoonies. A hard crit is almost like a 1-hour Keirin :)

Maybe road races would be better for you, with a few hills. That's what I'm pinning my pathetic hopes on. :p

Did you go and watch the Commonwealth Games road race? 1km from the Melbourne CBD, beautiful day, nice spectator friendly course, exciting race and the crowd would have been lucky to have been 10,000 IMO. The sport just doesn't have the attraction for the punters. The TDU is the only race in the country that truly generates huge crowds.
