Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So...

So...

Say I had a perfect condition golden Colnago that's been babied forever and kept in an office. And I put it on Ebay with a starting bid of $40,000. Would you bid on it?

Totally hypothetical.

It all depends on how much you would charge for shipping.

If the frame was made of pure gold and weighed over 4.5 lbs then yes I think it would be a bargain.

Absolutely not- what a waste of $40k. As others have noted there are better uses for that money- even if I were Bill Gates, $40k would be better spent on so many other things (cycling vacations?)

Absolutely! Of course I'd want to pay for it with a money order for $84, 365. Then I'd have an agent pick up the bike after you wired the change back to me via Western Union.

Dang. You beat me to it.

Gotta love the craigslist scams. Who knew that many people in northern Africa want american bikes/stereo equipment/yard tools/etc.

Our government needs to hide their heads in shame.

Maybe in the dirt, without the bodies.
