Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I know!!! The good press on the Madone is REALLY bothering me.

I am DIS-inclined to get anther Trek (I'd like a change but the new Madone is getting such universal praise that I think I'd be a fool NOT to get it!

Can someone please point me to a not-so-stellar review of the Madone?

I say just go test ride it. I too was "stuck" on a madone, but after test riding a few bikes, I found the madone comfortable and stiff, but lacked the road feel of what I ended up getting, a 2007 Look 555.

I was recently in a pretty serious car accident (ie I was hit head on by a car, and the collision was at 42mph) and broke my knee cap into three pieces, having them surgically reassembled along with the avulsed tendons. Anyways, I'm getting insurance money and money for the damages and I'm thinking they will total up to allow me to afford either of these two bikes. The Madone in my area is going for around $3750 and the SuperSix is around $3900. Both are specd with ultegra sl, the Madone having Bontrager Race Lite wheels and other Bontrager parts, and the SuperSix having Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels and their Carbon Si crankset.
Anyways, any opinions on this choice would be great.
(Keep in mind my old bike was an 06 Cannondale R1000, and I liked the geometry for the most part, and I will be back to intermittent racing once I heal)
Sorry I can't help, I like them both..

it really depends on what you're looking for. the cannondale overall is lighter a bit stiffer actually and it handles better than any other 'dale i've ridden. it has a very classy look and the slim seat stays are gorgeous and help keep you comfy. i also really enjoy their all white and all black colour options...simple and classic...and i believe it's outfitted with FSA as opposed to Bontrager...i despise Bontrager.

i spent on day on the new Madone and the only word that came to mid was "noodle." i weigh in around 180...and i can generate a great deal of wattage when out of the saddle in full-go-mode. the Madone felt like a wet noodle, all i could compare it to. the BB was stiff, yes. but i could feel torque and flex in the DT, TT and rear tri...as if it was an old steel frame sans the lively whip steel gives back.

the sad thing about it all, the Madone wasn't nearly as comfortable as the SUP6.

I used to hate Cannondale road cycles...but i must say, the SUP6 is a feat of ingenuity, design and function!

all in all, i'd say get the Super Six over the Madone...and the Specialized SL2 over the Super Six...talk about a bike! haha

BTW...i'm a tried and true Campy user, but you cannot go wrong with the Ultegra SL...beautitful, smooth and light!

best of luck!
