Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My new white look 595 with white components, saddle and bar tape. . I had a friend do a fantastic job spraying up the campag Bora Ultras and Record Gruppo. Love the white Cinelli integrated bar and stem too. In true OCP style I've put it against a white garage door.

Lovely. Have removed a few decals though as I thought there were one or two too many.

It was expensive, genuine bleached leather from the sought after herds of Sweden. They don't use barbed wire fences to protect the hides thus preventing nicking and blemishes. This particular strand took two cows, one for each side as only the finest section of hide is used which is a very small portion that covers the sirloin area. It cost me so much I had to skimp and opt for a Fizik Arione saddle albeit with steel rails recovered from Maurice Garin's own 1903 Tour de France winning bike.

I have black and white bar tape. I like the S-works white wrap, but opted for the cushier Roubaix wrap on top. Easier on the hands and the espresso gel stains don't show up.

cheers.
The Forte tape is fine, but a little too squishy for my taste right now, so next time I retape I'll put on some Deda instead. Also replacing the EA70 OS bar with a Deda Supernatural at the same time. OS bars and squishy tape makes it harder to get a good grip. Going slightly narrower too (44 c2c to 44 o2o). The Forte tape does provide good shock absorption.

White tape lets you know when it's time to clean it or retape. Black gets just as icky. Given that it takes no more time to retape a bar than to fix a flat, and Forte tape is $5 (Deda $12), and it's usually good for several months - I don't see what the big deal is. If you care, after you've retaped you can probably wash the old tape and reuse next time. Assuming you didn't use the glue strip. (I don't, just makes it messy to take off.)

I did the same but I'm planning to stay a way from the white bar tape in fear that someone might mistake the Kestrel for a Specialized Allez.

Pharmr,
I like your saddle and wonder what it is? Recently I got a white saddle (Regal) but I think I need to return it b/c the fitting and the weight. The wing of the saddle is too extended and interferred the bolt of the seat post.
Thanks in advance.

white tape is like rap stars' sneakers.

it only looks cool if you keep it fresh.

it's not for looking cool in and of itself, its there to say that you can afford the upkeep.

Hi, Wkend_Warrior. That's the Specialized Toupe. MulliganAl and DI75 have similar ones, but in different colors. The ones with colors on the side edges of the saddle are Specialized Toupe Team, and they are bundled with bar tape.

The Toupe does not have much padding, so you may or may not like it. There is also a gel version of the Toupe, but based on what I've read, it seems like more people like the original than the gel one.
