Not one, but two BMC's!!! Congrats SGM you deffinately earned it. You either spent some serious TDY time or that was one hell of a retirement gift to yourself, or I guess you could've spent some time over in the sand box. None the less congrats again, you really know how to make a man jealous.

BMC SLT01 (Team Machine). Basically the same as Reedz (i'm lazy...and don't own a decent camera) with a compact FSA crank. I love it. And my ego loves the compliments it gets.
My assumption is that fewer people in the States have them since they're not as readily available at bike shops compared to Trek, Cannondale, Giant, Specialized....

An update on my Pro Machine. I had the naked carbon 2007. A few months ago I saw what appeared to be a chip / scratch on the top of the seatpost clamp. Took it to the shop and they spoke to the BMC rep who said to swap the frame out no questions asked. They think that there was a slight crack. Frame was replaced by a 2008 White/ Black. Unfortunately the naked carbon frames were sold out. Great customer service from the local dealer and BMC.
By the way the 2008 frame feels smoother than the 2007. All other components are the same. My understanding was that very little was updated between the 2007 and 2008 frames.
I miss my naked carbon frame but the white/ black is growing on me.

Just spotted this SLX01 Racemaster on the BMC site, haven't seen one in Singapore. Seems to be an integrated/aero seat mast/post called a "streampost". Aluminium "trident" / Carbon "arc" mix (apologies for large pics):

I am currently considering a SLC-01 but am a bit worried about the comfort as I am a non racer...can anyone comment?
My build would wind up being much like that of 2002 above...of that matters.

I think comfort, is directly related to fit. Both of my BMC's are comfortable to me, though the geometries are slightly different. If a BMC is what your interested in, get a good fit on one. I think that's the hardest part, being able to spend enough time on a paticular frame esp. in that price range to make sure that's the bike for you!!

I tested the SL01 and the SSX - I found them both to be the same on comfort, 50km test rides on good tarmac. I bought the SSX as I really needed a travel bike.
I then replaced my Trek 5200 with a 2007 SLC01. The fit was great but the Trek was definitely more comfortable over longer rides. The 2007 frame had a problem with a chip at the seat clamp and was replaced with a 2008 frame. The 2008 frame is so much more comfortable (same components and wheels).
I'm not sure what all of this means to you :-) either way they are both great bikes.

I need a bike that will be comfortable on longer rides...the 60-100 mile sort of rides. I would look at the Roubaix...and maybe I will again but I had one a couple of years ago and didn't like how it felt dead when I stood up. The other bike I am looking at seriously at the moment is the Pegoretti Marcelo...I really am a big fan of steel.

I used to ride Cannondale (aluminum frame) and Felt (carbon seatstay).
My SLC01 is a lot more comfortable than those 2 bikes.( I wish I have more experience with other frame)
I'm not a racer and do my 100 miles ride with my BMC and no problem so far.

The shop I race for is a BMC dealer, and from my understanding has a really good relationship with BMC. The Racemaster was in the shop 2 days after being unveiled. I got to play around with the framefor a little bit, it's REALLY impressive.
I'm goign to wait until the next BMC deal to decide if I'm getting one.

BMC warranty requirements suck!
My nude black SLC-01 frame (2007) was purchased from a shop in San Fran late last year. However, I no longer have a relative living there, so I'm probably never going to go back outside of business again. Anyway, when cleaning my bike the other day I noticed that rock chips on my frame are causing the paint to shatter and blister approx 1/8" around the outside of the actual chip. Basically the paint isn't adhering to the substrate as it should. So I called QBP and talked to a BMC warranty rep. I told him where the frame was purchased and that I am a VERY VERY long way from that shop (I currently live in Kansas). The closest BMC dealer is in St. Louis, MO, which is about a 5 hour drive away. He basically told me that in order for BMC to even consider warrantying the frame I would have to bring the frame back to the shop it was purchased from. The St. Louis shop (or even Competitive Cyclist in Arkansas) isn't an option. That blows. So now I either spend $1000 transporting my bike (and myself) to San Fran for an inspection, or I live with a very expensive frame that has what appears to be a bad case of "the herp". I'm not a happy camper!
Anyone have any similar issues with paint integrity on the SLC-01?

I have a clear protection film on down tube and when I tried to remove, it removed clear paint also.
When I contact BMC, they said it is ok.
And since I bought my frame from person, I don't have an warranty any more.
Yes, I agree with you that their warranty suck! and their paint quality suck too.
However, I love my SLC01 more than any other frame.

GC - the 2008 and the 2007 were set up identically, right down to the tyre pressures. The 2008 was more comfortable. BMC only claimed very minor changes for 2008 for the SLC01, stiffer bottom bracket. These shouldn't have effected the comfort but it did. Tonight I rode a 2007 frame (to test ride Record) it felt harsher than my frame. Maybe I just got a comfortable frame, who know.
K.F. I found BMC warranty to be beyond reproach but I do live close to the dealer and am the first owner. I needed the frame in a day so the S.E.Asia rep authorised a replacement frame for the shop over the phone.
Can't you email them pictures to start with? If they agree there is a fault then you can discuss shipping the frame. Good luck.

I offered up that option when I was talking to the rep. He very bluntly said no. The entire warranty process begins and ends at the original shop. Also, he said that if the frame were replaced, due to the fact that there are no 2007 frames remaining, that I would be charged an "upgrade" fee (estimated at $400) for getting a 2008 frameset. That really shocked me. What sort of warranty is that? Yes, your frame is covered for two years, but if you actually DO exercise the warranty, we're going to charge you to swap the frame out. Needless to say, BMC is not going to be an option when I start looking for a replacement for this bike.
