Colnago CLX reviews?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Colnago CLX reviews?

I've been looking at the CLX and have found limited reviews. Anyone that has this frame care to share their thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

I guy I ride with has one and loves it. From my limited ride on one it handles the same as other Colnagos wich is good IMO and the ride was nice as well.

I've only ridden mine 3 times, longest being 50 miles.

To me, compared to my Cannondale caad8:
- the CLX is much, much smoother over non-smooth roads, cracks and bumps
- around 1" higher handlebar on the CLX because of longer head tube + non-integrated headset
- CLX's steering response feels a little slower than my caad8 (may just be my head)

I use the same alloy handlebar on both bikes and swap wheelsets between them. Being relatively lightweight (145 lbs) and lacking in power, I didn't notice any difference in stiffness between the two.

Here are some links for you:

I have about 1000 miles on mine now and love it.
It is the most comfortable bike I have every ridden.
Longest ride to date is 80 miles and I was free of ache's, pain's etc.

We were driving down the highway and my wife asked "So what is the diff between the CLX and your old Lemond". I said this is the Lemond then changed lanes into the freshly paved silky smooth lane and said "this is the CLX." "Wow" was the response.

I test rode a lot of bikes and this was the one that "spoke" to me.
It is however very close in feel to the Tarmac. The bikes are very similiar.
I got a serious deal on it from competitive cyclist.

Thanks for the link to the earlier post - it didn't come up in my search. Every U.S. online retailer I've found only has red, blue, and white frames. The Colnago website offers several more colors, so the search is on for a black one!

An LBS near me has a black frame like 80vette. I believe it's a size 48s.

The white one is 2008, whereas the black one is 2007. The paint pattern is also a little different as well.

I've seen a black one in Toronto (Pedal Performance). Not sure if they ship to the US. As for US online retailers, competitivecyclist (used to?) have the 2007 on steep discounts. That's how I got mine.

Also, remember the CLX has a slopping top tube, so do check their sizing/geometry chart. Good luck!
