I just bought a set of Louis Garneau victory gloves. (Nashbar for like 15 bucks).
They look good, have no padding, but I'm worried about how they'll hold up if i use them to wipe debris from my tires. They don't look like they'd do well with that...
I'll post more when I've used them some.

^^^heh -yeah, they're great. Another comment I have on since its been a while since this thread has been visited is that the Castelli gloves are holding up really well. I ride 40 miles to from work almost everyday, and I almost always use these. They almost still look new.

I got the Specialized body geometry ones this year. I had their old ones, the ones without the velcro strap; they were great once you got them on; but getting them on and off was a bit ridiculous. The new ones are awesome. Specialized really does put out good stuff.

im my opinion, cycling gloves are just cloves with a bit of padding in the palm. No really discernible differentiation between brands except for cost. I've found that using my weight training gloves have been superior to any cycling glove of tried because there is more padding.
If you tend to ride on the hoods, this works really well and prevents any numbness in the hand.

Just discovered Fox Racing full fiingered thin gloves. My kids had been using Fox gear for BMX and I tried one 3 weeks ago and already did 2 long rides (centuries) with it. Great gloves, no padding ang good stitching. MY dogs usually don't bother with shoes or gloves. but they ate the one glove. I got so pissed I gave them the other. I got another pair yesterday.

I have a pair of the Assos summer gloves but they don`t have the loops to help pull them off , whats up with that. Other than missing the loops they are worth every penny they cost.

I have tried many of the fancy gloves with all the bells and whistles and I always go back to the cheap gloves with just a little foam padding. They let me feel the bike better. I really only where gloves for when I crash. Seems to me if you need a lot of padding in your gloves you are leaning to hard on the bars. I like the Performance pittards.

I was using the Bell gloves you can get at Wal-Mart, but didn't care for them too much as parts of them felt too big while other parts felt small. I tried some pairs on at the LBS but didn't like how any of those felt at all and found them hard to take off. I finally found some good gloves even though they aren't cycling gloves. I now sport a pair of Dickies work gloves. They have grips on the fingers, padding on the knuckles, thick leather on the palm, and a cloth wipe on the backside of the thumb/pointer fingers. Here is a picture of what I'm using.

I've got two pairs of the specialized bg gloves, a bit pricy at my lbs, but they seem to be reasonably high quality.
I'm thinking about a pair of mechanics gloves for full finger coverage for the winter.

Only gloves I have ever bought, used. The gel inserts seem to be deforming or otherwise squishing around to different shapes, but that may be because they are almost two years old. I have really enjoyed using them, even though I do like the feel of bare hands on clothtape. I'd just rather not rip up my palms in the unlikely event I crash - I need my hands for work.
