Same theory as above
I had a mate who said "
I dont like electric windows incase I put my car in the water I wont be able to get out"
my reply
"If you are that stupid you deserve to drown"
some people are just dumb

Statistics

I think that you have to include the type and distance of the commute in each country as well as the relative awareness of cyclists shown by car drivers. This website has some data...http://www.helmets.org/stats.htm

I think wearing a helmet makes you do more risky riding than not wearing one.
Would you do a crit race without a helmet? no
Would you go down a curvy mountain roads going over 40 mph without a helmet? no
Would you be riding on narrow roads where cars are going 60mph without a helmet? no

But with a helmet, would you? I would.

So, I think if you don't wear a helmet, you tend to do lot less risky type of riding so therefore, you would tend to avoid accidents. I think there was a study out about seat belt laws haven't reduced accidents b/c it could be related to drivers tend to drive more careless with seat belts.

As a kid, I never wore a helmet when i rode my bike, but then again, I never rode on busy roads and tended to ride more on sidewalks. Now, that I'm into riding road bikes, I feel comfortable to ride on busy roads and one of the reasons is that I have a helmet to wear. So, I think non-helmet wearers have a point that they're fine without one b/c they tend to do less risky riding, but I definitely like to ride in crits and go downhill as fast as possible so I would definitely wear a helmet with my type of riding.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would dignify the idea that a helmet is somehow harmful with a comet.
I find the idea ludicrous.

I see what you've done here. And elsewhere.

That article inadvertently came up with an idea of how to make drivers more sensitive to cyclists. In order for them to get a license make them ride a bike on the busiest street in town at rush hour without a helmet.
