Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Holy crap. As soon as I read one page, another one appears.

If you're new to a group- talk to people. Get the lay of the land- how fast, how experienced, type of ride etc. The good cyclists will ask you the correct questions- your road riding experience, etc. If you are out of your league, they will likely tell you- and if they are supportive types, let you know of alternative rides. If they are knowledgeable about cycling in your area, they will know of other groups. If you don't listen or otherwise demonstrate that you are an unsafe rider, you will likely be ridden off the back.

That said, riders should be supportive of other riders whether they suck or not. As I've said in the past, the more riders there are, the better. You increase the number of "freds", you also increase the number of "good" cyclists.

If I can't stay with you the whole 100 this year, I'm taking up golf.

You hit the little ball with the stick right??

Edit: It better not rain, I'll have the secret weapon done for this year, old, yes, obsolete, definately, but un-fendered and not steel.......

These threads are probably worse on flyfishing forums...dry fly...wet fly...nymph...two flies with a stimulator as an indicator...graphite vs carbon... barbed vs barbless. Even better...salt water vs fresh water. It would go on forever. And then, how about those fishing freds that use a cork to cast a fly!!!! Burn them! BURN THEMMMM!!!!!

And I hate rafters. They think they own the river. Come near me, I'll throw a snake in your boat. See how you like it then!!!!

Philistine! The discussion ends at dry fly, partridge hooks, tonkin cane and silk thread.

Whats really great are the looks you get from other anglers when you get within a hundred yards of them on a stream 7 feet wide. Talk about contempt and hatred.
