I use the Sci-Con Elan...the velcro fits very neatly with nothing hanging over, and it's a very small bag...you won't make any contact with it while on the bike. You definitely need to be a minimalist as to what you carry, though....

I have had good luck with the Pearl Izumi Tailgate Wedge. Small but will hold a tube, tire levers, multi-tool, patch kit.

Try wallbike, rivendell and velo orange. That should cover a large chunk of the Rando market. Also look at Carradice.

+1 I love the ICS bag. It is a bit odd though because it sticks out farther to the rear than a "normal" saddle bag that wraps around the seatpost and through the rails.

Most smaller saddle bags have two straps: one that goes forward around the seatpost, one and goes up through the saddle rails; it's the former strap that rubs on shorts, usually. Just cut off that strap, as the saddle rail strap is more than enough to hold the bag in place, and all problems are solved.

I dunno how you feel about Trek, but check this one out. It attaches directly to the rails with no straps. I think its a pretty cool idea.

The good thing about it sticking out farther than normal is that it leaves space between the rails for the battery pack for my rear Dinotte taillight. Plus, getting to the batteries is easy-peasy, just unclip the saddlebag and open the battery pouch.

I use a cheap Performance TransIt speed wedge. The strap that goes around the seat rails to secure the bag uses plastic clip instead of velcro. It also allows you to compress the bag pretty well.

Remembering this discussion I looked earlier today while cycling. In my case the shorts are rubbing against the forward edges of the saddle bag.

Another vote for the Topeak Aero Wedge, size small.
I prefer the velcro straps versus plastic clip, but to each his own.
