Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't get why people are defending this person... Were you select few bugged a lot when you were young? Are you still picked on? Who cares! it is a funny ridiculous picture of some cyclists who are overly frightened of falling.

Cycling brings people out of the woodworks. If you can't laugh at this, then your life is to stressed.

Feel free to post a few photos of yourself so that we may publicly ridicule them. It's all in good fun.

Judging by some of the group rides and races I've of been on in my life, perhaps this would be the way to go.

We all should. It's good to laugh at yourself once and a while.

I mean, I definitely would post a pic of myself but being a jet-setting, model type, my pictures are way too alluring to be posted here. The internets - as vast a place that it is - cannot hold the magnitude of my beauty. Computers and city grids would shut down and we don't need any more panic stricken blackouts right now in the state the world is in.

Okay, I'm about to totally geek out...

Tin Man!? Those guys are wearing 14th Century Italian harness (that means armor) tailor made for them! They can turn cartwheels in that kit! Tin Man indeed!

There...I feel better now.

If this guy raced BMX also and had a bad spill there, he is just trying to protect himself. Aside from the full faced helmet, I have body armor too when I practiced laps in the BMX track. . Since the speeds on the road are faster, it is not a bad idea.

The pic could be funny but not the way it is taken.

I know camelbacks are frowned upon here for roadies, but I use mine. Unless you are in TT position all day I do not see it messing your aero dynamics. I have the lightest one available and it is a better place to store spare tubulars. It isn't hot for me as well.

I'm with you Dr. Pete. Here is an important difference though: the guy being ridiculed didn't post the pictures; the only point of the thread was to make fun of the way someone looks.

To the OP: You should have gotten over this in elementary school.

But by all means, post pictures of strangers so better cyclists can make fun of appearances

Maybe the guy is epileptic and gets uncontrollable seizures. At least he rides his bike, not like 98% of the other lazy asses in this country.

I think I know the guy on the right. Are you sure it is from a cycling club in RI? I swear I see him on the Sleeping Giant rides out of Hamden CT each Sunday. Or maybe it is just that all old white guys start looking the same! (this coming from someone who hopes to reach old white guy status someday - though perhaps without the knee socks)

It's too early in the year to just count me out as FOY. I know I can improve on last year...

Actually, I was thinking the same thing. A few yrs back, I wore a full-face helmet for my first 2 xc mtb rides after sinus/nasal surgery.

I saw this dude with a 3 foot long stick with a red flag on it, sticking out to the left from his panniers. Suggested clearance to the autos around him. Sweet
