Will 650c road tires fit into a frame for 26" wheels
I'm thinking the size will be more or less the same but will 650c wheels fit into my 26er MTB frame, I was looking to "road-ise" it, and maybe convert to singlespeed or even fixed gear while I'm at it. I know I can get slicks for the 26 inch mountain wheels, but I was thinking that with 650cs I can get narrower, and much lighter wheels too. So what does everyone think, I know it's not the simplest solution, but will they fit in the frame?

A 650c rim is slightly larger than 26" mtn. 650c is ISO 571 and 26" is ISO 559. It would fit but there would probably be issues with the brake pads lining up.. A bigger problem would be rear wheel spacing. Mtn rear wheels are spaced at 135mm where as 650c road is 130mm. With an aluminium frame thats too much to flex inwards.
Velocity makes some narrow, lightweight rims in a 559 size I believe.

There are narrower 26" wheels available, look into parts for recumbents. You aren't going to get quite as narrow as a 650, but you can get down to 1" without any problem. I'd suggest https://www.hostelshoppe.com to start.
