Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yep, Just called them back to re-check and see if they still had any. Not sure why it has 105's.

Good price for this bike? I'm looking for a new bike and this is in my range. Had a real old Fuji and it was fine. I realize this is not top-o-line, but is it OK for the price.

Full 105 Group, Ritchey Wheels, Carbon Fork.
Great price for a Roubaix. I noticed one at Performance in Denver for $799 a few weeks ago. I've got a Roubaix Pro (essentially same components but with a Reynolds 853 frame - a little bit more expensice than the Al Roubaix, but found a great deal on it at my LBS), and the 105 components are more than good enough.

Not sure what you're suggesting there, shokhead. All Fuji Roubaixs are full 105, aren't they?

You said Roubaix,its Marseille we were talking about. I know the Roubaix Pro and Marseille were close to the same except for 105 and ultegra. I think the Roubaix is alum frame,not steel.

Continuing the theme here... I am looking for a starter road bike that won't break the bank (ie. cheap..well, not cheap but less expensive)... One of the local dealers I called today has these:

Fuji Ace --> $350
Fuji Finest --> $399

Are these good starter bikes? If there are others, could you recommend one around that price range (<$400, <$350 even better)?

Thanks in advance...

Roubaix is aluminum, Roubaix Pro is 853 Select. Very good bikes. Marseille even better. I don't own one but I looked long and hard at them and would recommend them for their quality and value.

I'd love to have this Fuji.... https://www.fujibikes.com/road/bike.a...ayID=5&yr=2004 It was actually my one of the last 3 bikes I narrowed it down to when buying my bike about a month ago! It's a very nice bike, I ended up going with a Cannondale R1000 04, couldn't resist getting the SOBE green color. But if it weren't for that I would have purchased the team.... my point is FUJI are good...

Probably the Rorboux.. that's all 105, same frame.. lists for $1599, but I've seen it for $795. I've seen the 03 Marseille for $1095. but it lists for $1999. If I had seen that price, I might have bought one. Very light for Steel(Marseille).
The best price I had seen on it was $1599, which is what I paid for my C'dale r1000.. at that price, it was a no brainer. At $1099, I might have bought the Fuji. I had also considered the Trek 2300 for $1700...

I have a Fuji Finest AL that I've put 6000 hard miles and 2 ugly races on and it has served me well.
I will upgrade in 2005 to a new, lighter bike. I would seriously consider buying another fuji, but my lbs doesn't carry them and because of all the support and guidence I have gotten I would feel like a dirtbag.
Fuji pros (entry level) affordable entry level bike. Same as trek 1000 but much cheaper.
durable, and did I mention affordable?

Cons = Rides like a jackhammer
Heavy like a tank which is only good if you are going downhill.
