Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

MRM Whey Pumped. Kind of difficult to find in stores, might need to buy it online.

This is without a doubt my favorite whey. Taste, mixability, it's great, and it's all natural (i.e. no artificial sweeteners).

I use the Vitamin Shoppe house brand - "Body Tech, Whey Tech Pro 24." Pure whey with all those BCAAs, lo-carb, etc. It's about $5/lb in their 5 lb jar, a very good price.

Btw, Muscle Milk, has whey, fats and "casein" protein, which is a slow digesting type good for breakfast, meal replacement, or at bedtime. I never take casein right before/after training. Whey is a fast digesting protein and is better/faster absorbed than casein after a workout.

However, I have tried Muscle Milk because that's what UCLA gives their football players, and my neighbor gave me some of his he didn't want/like - tasted nasty, imo.

One more thing - soy protein is a medium digesting protein. One study showed a mix of soy and whey to be best for putting on muscle. This mix is going to last longer in your system than whey alone. I mix the two (mainly in my oatmeal in the morning), and sometimes add casein if I know I'm not going to get another meal for a long time.

ON Pro Complex and ON 2:1:1Recovery. They both taste great and when it comes down to it that's really all that matters. Chocolate flavor mixed with milk is the DA BOMB.

The EAS stuff from Costco is Ultra high in cholesterol. So if you are worried about cholesterol I wouldn't mess with it. I bought the big bag from Costco, my woman did some research on it, I did one dose out of the bag and ended up taking the bag back for refund.

AST - Sport Science.

It is more expensive, and available online ... but it is definitely worth it. Trust me. I have been buying from them for years, and their products eclipse anything out there.

I used to take whey, but it just leaves me bloated and feeling gross. Sometimes I'll use a small amount of vanilla ON with granola and yogurt though.

Picked up some organic stuff from New Zealand at Vitamin Cottage. I like it, and it honestly works. Started taking it and saw serious benefit to my recovery and mass gain. I try to do half doses now, because I do eat lots of meat (primary food for me ) and I don't want to get huge or anything, just keep my muscles happy and strong.

Sadly, I put on muscle mass like most people put on fat. I hardly have to do anything and I start bulking. Carry groceries in one arm over another for a few weeks and that arm starts getting bigger...seriously. I actually have to force myself to be conscious of my muscle usage and stay very balanced.

EAS vanilla. My grocery store keeps it near the condoms ... go figure. The vanilla is good because you can use it in milk or fruit juice.

I like the ON myself. Chocolate or Strawberry even. My understanding price wise is that you need to look at number of scoops per serving. Some may be cheaper but you need to use twice the amount per serving.

Personally I use Gaspari Nutritions Intrapro. Good stuff. Some of the best on the market is Isopure. It's almost completely isolate protien, even lactose intolerant people can usually take this. It's more expensive, $70 for 2.5lbs. But your body will use up just about all you put in (up to 40 grams). Stay away from the cheap stuff, you'll waste more than your body will actually use. Also, if you want something with quality, good taste and mixes well try American Whey. I'm selling 3lbs. containers for $37 before discount right now. Not terrible considering the quality. And nobody ever mentions it but try something from Sci-Fit. EconoWhey or Whey Complex, both are great, the complex is a high quality protien. That's all I can think of, ON as already been mentioned and Nitro-Tech but that usually doesn't need mentioned.

Today I mixed my Whey with gatoraide. I have it in a cooler for after my noon time GYM workout. I'll take it with some real solid protein. Don't worry vegans, it was road kill I found this morning. Don't deny your humanity.

Had ON Chocolate before and liked it but the price keeps going up. Found a good price for Scivation Chocolate whey which seems pretty decent. Going to give that a shot next.

+1. Good for buying in bulk. The whey protein concentrate can be rough on the pallet. I suggest paying more for their Isolate.

Proteinfactory.com and Trueprotein.com are good also because you can customize mixes. I add vitamins, flax seed, carbs and/or fiber depending on what time of day I plan to use that particular mix. Another benefit is that you can buy flavoring separately. By purchasing several different flavor packs you don't have to go thru 5 lbs of chocolate before trying something else.
