Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have a compact bike as well but prefer the triple 52/39/30 11-26 setup more. There is more fine tuning available gear inch-wise and shifting back and forth under load from 30 to 39 with Ultegra 6703 is not an issue. I have four gear inch ratios each for the 40's and 30's between the 39 and 30 ring and shift depending on if I want to mash or spin up a climb. Often I start in the 39 then switch to 30 near the end of a summit or thinner air at 8000'+ elevation.

I know OCLV loves this bike, but it does nothing for me. Spending $30k on a bike is just ridiculous.

I would love for the owner of that $30k bike to crash it. lulz. or better yet, have it on a roof rack and go into the garage.

No bike should cost that much......

I would never spend that kind of coin on a bike ever, but I respect it, and I covet it. If I had it, I would most likely still ride my S2 a more than anything, but save this crazy contraption for extremely hilly rides, and take it out like 5 times a year.

Definitely not $30k even with the Lightweight wheels, Vumaquad and various AX components. But not that far off from $20k.

If you pay MSRP for everything...

I'd take so many other $7k bikes over that one even if it was somehow under $10k.

Exactly....

I was just roughly estimating, but....

$9800 Frameset
$7500 Wheelset
$2630 Group
$900 Stem
$1000 crankset, that is no longer available
$700 seatpost
$825 handlebars
$1200 brakes

Still need a good bit of parts to make it a complete bike, but it's at $24,555 so far.... granted it isn't a complete group so that price would be a bit different, but I was lazy, and trying to get prices fast.

Hot? Terrible?

That's a $100 nashbar frame by the way, the whole bike was built for about $800. Somewhat less than a $30k bike while retaining most of the utility.

To be honest I didn't check the brand of the components but I've emailed the shop to ask. The frame is a Vigore which is a custom-built frame from here in Kyoto. The frame was built long ago, but obviously just repainted.

You mention NJS. This company / shop used to be registered as NJS, but unfortunately decided to drop the relationship.
By the way, in my opinion there are no hubs more beautiful than an NJS Dura-Ace hub.

You overestimated by about 25% roughly!
