i fully understand a single front ring on a commuter and mountain bike but on this? it looks like it was built for climbing only.

what rear derailleur is that?

i would accept the minimal weight gain of a large ring so i could ride back down.

it's a Lightweight rear derailleur, they're north of $1k

definitely hot, would change chain to silver colored though

It'd be pretty easy to drop on a 50t/front der/shifter and not add much weight...but I don't use the bike for anything but rolling up/down Diablo and intervals by my place (Potrero) so for now I'll leave it be and just enjoy the lack of a front shift.

I thought that was the case but didn't recall them having an exposed lower pivot. Silly price but very cool part.


Is that a kcnc cassette?

Recon. I went with kcnc at first but switched to recon for an extra tooth...kcnc looks better tho.
