I like the bike. I hate the camera angle. Please take a photo from a height equal or higher than your handlebars.

Since everyone loved my first bike, I'll post my crit bike as well!

HOTTT... Almost makes a case for the black/red/white color scheme to come back into fashion...

FWIW - i have no problems with the cages. But the can crusher you have on top of the stem needs to go. Its like walking around in a nice suit with the price tag hanging off the back

Really? I've got carbon cages and they've never marked up my bottles, they've never broken, and yep they're light and look good. Seriously, do some cages have problems with all of these things?? I ride with a bunch of guys and I think they all have carbon cages and no one ever has a broken cage or drops a bottle unless they drop it…?? Strange, it's almost like complaining about helmets falling off peoples head so they've decided to simply wear construction hardhats while cycling instead. Huh?

GuitarBob 12-10-13 03:32 PM

Get's a hot from me too, even if it has the wrong cages.

;)

How long is that stem ?!?

I'm not a huge fan of the paint job but the white is a nice touch. IMO, the SLR01 looks a lot better.

I usually leave a cm or two on top of the stem for resale purposes.

Carbon cages look great but IME, they tend not to hold bottles well. I'd rather have the extra insurance of a traditional cage.

Lol, thanks! It's got a 130mm on there right now but I'll probably go back to a 120.

Arundel.

you're welcome.

shoota 12-10-13 05:38 PM

I wonder if Arundel cages are any good?

spRICE 12-10-13 05:46 PM

My blackburn carbon cages are great.

Herbie53 12-10-13 05:51 PM

Arundel plastic ones are fairly inexpensive, hold the bottle well and look cool.

Arundel carbon ones cost about the same as a bike from Walmart.. but they work well and look really cool.

I actually have ejected a bottle once out of a Blackburn camber.

TMonk 12-10-13 06:35 PM

i think that stainless steel cages have a nice aesthetic

obviously they work too, which seems to be secondary to the bottle cage market.

bigfred 12-10-13 06:36 PM

And, Mrs. Fred complained that the generic carbon cages I put on her bike are "too tight" compared with the old stretched out alloy ones she previously had.

Yes...really. I have no complaints about any of my helmets though.

In certain circumstances, yes. My colnago has king Ti cages, which work very well, have the classic look, and are the same weight as carbon cages. But the classic look of the frame matches the classic look and era-appropriateness of the cages. In this case, the BMC has a very modern, non-traditional appearance that in some of our opinions, does not work as well with the classic look of the steel cage. A good carbon cage holds a bottle just as well as a stainless cage. If you are ejecting bottles with the likes of an Arundel, the problem is probably the bottle, the circumstances surrounding the bumpy conditions or the crash, or user error and not the cage.

jack tripper, i love your bmc's. never even noticed the lame bottle cages until someone brought it up. Still, both are Hot!

Ironically, I have those same cages on my fixed gear and they don't hold my bottles very well. Not as nicely as my arundels anyway. Speaking of which, have you guys heard about the arundel cages? :)

I was heavily considering another BMC in my stable (this was my target or the TMR02), but I've had 2 warranty issues in the past that I can't overlook. CC came through with no issues though. Also selling my SLR01 today.

Nice bike!
