I love that frame. Would be quite hot if the stem was slammed a bit more.

Decided that rather than just try and swap out my 105 shifters with a newer set to route cable into bar which turns out does need the newer brakes due to the pull, I may as well use this opportunity to go full ultegra 6800, cosmetically though, here's what the new tape, lower stem and matching cages will look like (via sloppy photoshop). Hope this will be an improvement, but I'm on the fence about removing wheel decals. Bike should be back in my hands by Saturday so I can post a proper shot...

I like it with the wheel stickers myself!! )

cvall91 04-03-14 07:00 AM

I'd vote no wheel stickers. Those stickers make the bike to "loud" and they take away from the frame.

Im leaning that way too, maybe its a little loud but considering where I started :). I suppose if I want stickers, I could always replace with blacked out lettering.

Also, if I can't sell my 105 gruppo, may keep to put on a cyclocross frame, still have the old bar and the aksium wheels from this bike, hmm another bike for my collection, n+1 right. A giant TCX frame can be had pretty cheap or even a Ridley or caadx something like that. I feel a next project coming on.

I think it looks good but prefer no decals on the wheels. Everyone knows they're mavics from the carbon weave. Of course, ghost/black stickers would be pretty sweet as well.

I'm a photog so I know colors can absorb and reflect light differently and look different in a photo than they do to the naked eye (have you ever seen a clothed eye, just wondering?) but ARE YOU SUUUUUURE? Have you asked someone else if the colors are 'a spot on match', cuz the photo looks hideous. I can't see anything else because of that green on the bars… Ask someone else to look, and then if they agree, get back to us. ;)

Well that's not my bike so... I can't speak to what tape he has. Here are two cell phone pictures of my bike from the old setups I had last year. To the naked eye it is liquigas green or it wouldn't be on my bike, I hate "almost" the same shade.

I've been on the fence about my wheel decals, too.

Actually, I was the seller. I no longer have both of those bikes. Sold the corex on eBay 2-3 years ago. Currently riding a tcr advanved.

milkbaby 04-03-14 02:46 PM

Both are HOTTT as hell... Nice!

The old road rig. Mostly Italian, minus the fork/ cages/ wheels. Not staged properly

Made the leap to carbon, maybe I'll post it here if it looks good when I'm finished.

Freaking HOTTT... waiting to see the new steed if this is an indication...

HOTTT... That bike screams "LOOK"... ;)

I almost bought one of these but every secondhand one shows up with a seatmast that is cut way too short.

Gus90 04-03-14 03:09 PM

Got it back early. Hopefully much much better than before..

Thanks for all your advice guys. Now I can save for a new cyclocross frame to put the old 105 gruppo, aksium rims and drop bar on. Nothing wrong with getting an extra bike out of all this trouble....

By the way, how do you post pics so they are bigger in your posts, I can't seem to get it to work even though I can in other forums.

I'd say that bike is now hot.

WTF, did you just go out and spend 800 bucks to please internet people? I'm in awe.

dtrain 04-03-14 03:25 PM

+2, it looks great. Spendy little dip into the Hot or Not thread. That went pretty quickly from 'the cables kinda bug me' to 'I'm going full 6800'.

Not exactly, I want a cyclocross bike too and figured all the old parts from this one will mean I just need to find a decent frame so it works out. But yeah :)

Had to be more than that...didn't come over from the UK that quickly. Great for the economy though.
