I hate the black bikes, too. But I think matte black makes a great base for color. I started with black ENVE decals, and it was just too black for me, then I went green, and they didn't match the frame, and now I've settled on white, and I like that a bunch.

Yeah, pic is taken from below the bike. Handlebars are pretty up there, though. The bars and saddle are the result of a retul ($$$) bike fit just a couple of weeks ago. I'm not going to mess that up just to take a picture, though. The intent is to lower the bars more and more as my flexibility improves... but it's just not there yet, and I ride this bike too much to leave it set up for looks.

In fact now that I put the shorter quarq cranks on there I should be OK'd for raising the saddle up another 5mm in a few weeks. It's lower than optimal for knee extension/flexion, but if you optimize for that my tracking goes to crap. So this for now while I learn a different stroke technique, shorter cranks, 10mm longer stem, and then after I get used to (and loosen up my hamstrings) then we can go up to the proper seat hight.

I was talking about the nose down angle of the saddle. That usually leads to pressure on the hands, and numbness in the groin. The bars also look rotated up to compensate for the slope of the saddle. Both could just be due to the photo. I doubt a competent fitter would setup a bike they way it appears from that vantage point. It's probably just the photo.

Tired of ENVE? Please explain.

I really don't know much about the stuff except that it seems like all some people have to do is show an Enve decal and folks start drooling like Pavlov's dog. It's tiresome, and I think it's a stupid name. You asked. :)

it is a stupid name, but they ran into copyright issues under the original name (Edge) so it was was changed slightly.

I can't help you with hating the product though. They make great products, but now I'm also a little tired of they way they are treating companies that buy their tubing.

They gave me some hoops a few years ago, but now the have gotten a bit full of themselves.

Yeah, it might be slightly nose down, depending on how you measure things. If you measure a line from nose to tail through the middle it'll be flat, but if you measure nose to the side flares it will be slightly nose down. That's the shape of this thing.

We used the geobomized (or however you spell it) saddle pressure mapping. We also tried like 7 saddles before we found this one. We also did the 3D saddle angle mapping on it (part of the retul process). It's 100% confirmed to be setup where it's not putting any extra pressure on the hands. A GOOD fitter is going to use tools to measure every aspect of the setup, and NOT just go by some dumb rule of thumb about the saddle angle.

I simply stated that some things look a little off, but blamed the photo (not the fitter).

BTW, don't judge the fitter's competence until you get some real miles in.

Hot :)

Bike looks great! I'm still awaiting purchase of a road bike, but I figured I'd still participate.

Participating in Como, you need a road bike. BF, you need a computer.

This was a spare parts build of sorts. Hence the frankenbike appearance. All the matching Enve was moved over to the S-Works and just put what I had in the closet on this To get it rolling again.

And some people (like myself) like having the valve stem caps. The weight is negligible and not having my valves corroded shut from the marine air is a very nice thing.

The Kestrel looks great! I don't see that brand too often.

Lots of Hot bikes here. I like.

Of course.. but you're supposed to pretend you don't use them and take them off for the photo.

Scott Addict Team Issue 2015

Owlex 03-31-16 03:14 PM

I'm sure some will think the 2015 team issue Addict is too "NASCAR-y", but that bike is blazing fkin hot to me. Might as well take off the rear blinky, center logos over valve stems, and throw it in the big ring of course, but...

Back in the middle 2000s when I lived in Utah, we were sort of proud of this company being just down the road from Logan. Neat stuff for sure, but then and now, I feel that the price of the product is super high. Sure, lots of engineering and RnD go into what they make, which I appreciate, but $3000 + for a set of wheels, just like Zipp, is a lot of money. I run some Boyd 44 Carbon wheels that cost about 1/3 of the price of ENVE wheels. I would not suggest that Boyds are 1/3 the quality or engineering of the ENVE wheels.

manufacturing costs are higher for ENVE hoops(US made) and spoke holes are not drilled. They definitely cost more to produce, and are higher quality, but the price difference is still a little much.

I purchased a wheelset from Workswell recently, but haven't ha a chance to use the yet. I am curious to see if I notice a difference other that weight on the scale.

FWIW, I would have bought the Boyd clinchers if this set of ENVE wheels hadn't come up in brand new condition at a lower cost than new Boyds. Yes, ENVE are expensive, but hell yes I'm going to take them when they fall in my lap for cheap!

Very cool staging. As it is not a road bike, can't vote.
