That Colnago is just right.
I like the idea and the execution of the Soulcraft, but I don't find it hot. I think it's mostly the extended head tube - it makes perfect sense, but I can't come to terms with how it looks. I wonder what the impressions will be for this. It's the initial build, most parts just transferred from the old frame and it will evolve from here. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4..._7748-Edit.jpg I like this bike a lot. How tall are you? Looks like it'd fit me, if you ever happen to want to ship it to Virginia and never see it again. |
Love the Palace.

What's protruding through the bar tape?
https://www.dropbox.com/s/e0phxf6cbe...sthis.JPG?dl=1 And what kind of tape is that? Looks like Fizik Superlight? |

I'd imagine it's the Di2 sprint shifter buttons, they let you shift from the drops without touching the levers.

I'm not sure how to interpret "monstrous" :)
It looks like a formal combination of two different kinds of bikes, but not like a functional hybrid bike; an abnormal creature. If it were alive, it might be frightening, but since it's not, we can enjoy scrutinizing it in safety and comfort :) |
You could tape around them, I guess.
They make ones for the tops for climbing. |

They make ones for the tops for climbing. I think our shop's mechanic had to do some creative splicing/drilling on his frame and bars to get everything to work smoothly. He managed 16,000 trouble-free miles this year, so I guess it worked. |

I googled it based on your answer and it is so. I'm really surprised that there isn't a more elegant solution, something other than ripping a hole in the tape.

Don't know how picky Mr. Sagan is about the position, but sometimes you have to re-wrap so button goes through middle. The thin tape splits anyway. I do a cross with a razor blade.
Now I get the red and white bar tape. Love the bike and the look, but the Easton graphics are bit too much. I had Eastons on my Madone, but it looked too much like a rolling billboard. When i built my Emonda, I went to the other extreme. http://glenn-ring.com/emonda/Madone_4.6.jpg |

Not sure what brand, but some, like Lizard Skin, are pretty thick.

This assembly looks too random to be hot. And is that a bidon or a motor you've got there? |
That is a motor, invoked by a radio signal used for engaging a pin that uses chain power to shift.
I didn't think it was hot either - just fast. But the water bottle - just that. Makes it faster, but generally not allowed in my son's races. |
