It isn't a matter of money. Who the hell needs that much water? For a garden? Come on. I've been here for three months, and we haven't seen more than 60 minutes' worth of rain the last couple months. Just because he paid for it doesn't make it justifiable.

see your reasoning is just a little bit off. im sure in your science filled zone you know that the poles have changed, climates have altered, and animals have died off. the earth changes! i have no doubt that the poles will melt but when and more importantly why? i want scientific proof that it is down to us and not the earth changing. how soon we forget the ice age and the global cooling between 1940-1970.

Hmmm - didn't realize Tx has an oil pipeline. I thought it was all local production and the off shore stuff in the Gulf. Droughts aren't any big deal - frankly more often than not we go through a dry season this time of year. Usually June through early Sept.

I went out to some pretty remote areas on my ride today. You know, all this bermuda/ St. Augustine non-native stuff is dying by the yard full but the native plants are looking awesome. It made some nice scenery to ride through. Almost wished I had my camera. I think I'm going to go dig some of this stuff up and put it in my yard so I'll have something un-brown. ;)

No. It is a utility, the utility company can say you use too much and cut you off for the good of their service. American's look at water as a right, it is not, it is a commodity that is bought and sold and under the control of someone. Public utilities have the right to put terms on usage of whatever they are selling, if they want to say your max water use is X gallons then you have to follow that. And clearly Austin has decided to shame people into water reduction.
