Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Race day food?

More specifically, what should I eat and how much for breakfast tomorrow before my crit at 12:30? It's a junior race, and only 30 minutes long. My last race, I decided to eat pancakes for breakfast, six of them, and coffee. That wasn't a very good idea on a 95 degree day, and I threw it up halfway through the race haha. I thought it was a good idea at the time, but now I'm unsure about what I should eat.

Eat what you usually eat.

Changing things is bad for you.

Oatmeal, don't eat too much and don't eat for a couple of hours before the race.

For only a half hour I'd have a thing of yogurt and call it good. That's just me though.

For any race less than 25 miles my standard pre-race snack was a Hershy bar and a can of coke. Lots of sugar and caffiene, and the coke clears your throat of any phlem. Eat and drink that about 45 minutes befoe your race.
