Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Texas Hospitality ?

My friends and I enjoyed a great metric century in Cat Spring, TX this morning.

We didn't get harrassed by any drivers, no mirror kicking, etc.

But, we did see this sign in the yard of one resident...

I am so tired of that stupid Calvin peeing sticker. It is so overused and it has never been funny.

First of all, that's a Motobecane.
Second, the drivetrain is hidden. We know that's just wrong.

And what's with the saddle height??

I stopped riding in TX after my first few rides there back in 2000. I pretty much stick to Austin these days, unless I have to cross over into TX for a race.

I probably would have actually **** on that sign, and wiped my ass with their mailbox handle.

I would've pee'd on the sign, had someone take a pic of me doing it while flipping the camera off, then mailed it to the house.

Someone went to all that trouble to print a sign...

Hey Martha, I'm going out, want something you better holler quick!
Yea, get me one o' them road signs...you know like what we used for our Bush/Cheney nativity scene. Make it something funny I like. You know I likes that Calvin kid, he's alwuz pissing on things.
Hey looka that spaceman on that skinny bike there...say that gives me an idea for an art project.

Yep - on our ride outside of Dallas last Saturday, we're sitting at a red-light waiting to turn left when a guy in a truck on the opposite side of the intersection leans out the window yells something that to me sounds like "there's no water around here". I think to myself, doesn't he realize we all have bottles, but I guess that's nice of him.

As we proceed though the intersection, he brake-checks the group - and I'm like WTH, he was just nice to tell us about no water around here. My buddy looks over and goes "he said 'your kind isn't wanted around here'"
