He lives in Waterford.

We went up to the hill by the RPI, did about 2 hours worth of riding on the 96 and a few intervals on Oil Mill Hill Road.

He races in New York City on the weekend.

The lightest set of pedals/cleats/shoes that I could find is over 2 lbs. I think I see where we need to start losing weight next. Come to think of it, is the seat really necessary? What good is a rear brake? You could steer from the stem and lose all the weight of the handlebars....:rolleyes:

Look harder:

Aerolite Titanium pedals = 75 grams.

Aerolite cleats = <50 grams.

Simmons custom shoes = ~180 grams for a size 43.

FRP Titanium bolts = 5 grams.

That is 310 grams for shoes, pedals and cleats, or .68 pounds.

So you're saying a superlight fixie would be the way to go? No RD, FD, brakes, extra cogs or second ring. Also, the chain could be shortened.

Wow. Those don't even look like pedals. You win. How much is that setup you listed? I'm guessing more than my total bike by a good bit...

edit: I can't find those shoes online so I'm taking your word for it. That's crazy light though.

Aerolite Titanium pedals are about $350.

I prefer M2 Racer Orbs. They are heavier, but they wear a lot longer.

Shoes.

Nope, which means I'm going to have to switch pedal systems at the beginning of next season, as I am on my last pair of cleats.

yeah, 56 gear inches at a 34x16. all that lightness benefits you most on the climbs but no climbing gears.

He can spend his cash any way he wants--nothing against it. He can knock himself out. It's just that most of us aren't interested in 8-speed bikes that cost a mortgage payment to fix. Most people who are against such bikes are people over 140 pounds who actually ride.

As for the little dig... well, that's just pathetic. Somebody need a hug?
