It's a good price if the bike works.
Take a ride, run it through the gears, use both the front and rear brakes, and make sure the wheels are decently true.
Then do an inspection of the bike looking for any damage from a possible crash. If the pain is intact and you don't see and dents or cracks in the frame, go for it.
Good luck.

Make sure the bike fits you well. A poor fitting bike is a waste of money.
Also, check the obvious wear areas like tires, chain, and cassette. Replacing those will cost more than $100, so maybe you can negotiate down on the price.

I got the bike this morning. Inspected it just like you guys said. It was filthy! Bar tape has a bad spot, but no biggie. Shifting is flawless. There was a weird "whooshing" sound which turned out to be the rear bearing dust cover. I rubbed it with an oily rag, whooshing gone. The wheels are true as far as I can tell. The tires will need replacing.
I love the bike so far. At least the ride anyway. The paint scheme is so ugly. Think "Culture Club 1982." Complete with purple flames on the fork!
I think I'll sand the fork and paint it white or black and I'll be able to cope.
Thanks to you guys again for the advice. Jon

You got a good buy. Don't change the fork. I bet it will grow on you. Just ride it. Upgrade the motor.

Nice find. Dont mess with the fork, It looks fine. Give it a good cleaning, lube, remove reflectors, maybe consider adding clipless pedals and a computer. I once had a Trek 1200, same frame as yours...and it served me very well. Use those brakes for awhile. If ya dont like them, throw on a set of Shimano 105 brake levers. Really nice find for the price. Those bikes sold for around 800 new.
