Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pcad....HTFU

My Wed ride? 200K. Gramps....what did you do?

It is true....after a while....distance is just a number judged by only time that will be spent on the bike.

My friend and I had talked about doing a 200k for about 3 weeks and finally set a date....great ride. Just me and him and 3 stops for water. Relatively flat ride with only 6500k of climbing. 60 miles of the ride was pancake flat.

Bikes: zilch

I predict quit regression since most of us aren't training seriously or racing.

3rd or 4th grade material will soon follow.

Nobody knows what the F '200K' means anyway. That sounds like a street address in Washington D.C.

200k = 656,300 ft. I'd say that's at least 5th grade.

What does the month have to do with it? At least PCad understands that the outside weather has no bearing on whether you ride or not.

My day started at dark with 59 degrees and finished in the daylight and 82 degrees. HTFU if you think octobor isn't a month to do serious mileage.

Incorrect. Longest rides are typically 112 miles. I'm reasonably sure that's less that 200 'K's. Even that 112 miles pushes the envelope of Velo Idiocy. I do it couple of times each year.

It's addressed to him...not you or anyone else not worthy of the name.

Gary is saying what's your point? Racing season is over, too early for serious base miles.

Friggin Road Nazis. They'll never get it. Keep doing those junk miles Rutnick. You go girl.

Racing season over? BAH....there is a MTB race this weekend and there is X.

There is no season for RIDING. Either you get on the bike or not.

You understand....as far as the road nazis.....they just need to go start a thread on leg shaving, posing, matching sunglasses to bike frames or something else.

For me...I always look for a challenge regardless of what MONTH it is. I still have a few centuries to ride this year, Going to do 3 different MTB courses in 1 day in Chattanooga next month...start out in the morning and finish with lights on.

It's either ride or sit around feeling bad and eating all day.
