Looks like the Conti GP4000 is the clear winner so far......although the Pro Race 2 is leading the polls. I wonder if you can edit the poll so I can include the Conti?
I think most folks are voting for PR3's - not sure if you can get many PR2's any more. I voted PR3's based on pretty good experience with my set for ~1600miles so far. The rear started to noticeably square off by 700miles or so, but no noticeable detriment in performance. To Vireo's question, I've not had any problems so far. PR3's seem to polarize folks round here though - you either love them and the way they feel, or you have dreadful experiences with multiple flats. |
+10 on the Conti GP4000 with Black Chili (black color only) or GP4000S

I wonder if PBK-style prices have made a difference here - it certainly helped me when I could pick up a pair for $70. If I was paying full retail, I think I'd be more disappointed with the wear.

I love my open corse. But I just ordered a set of conti attack/force this time hoping for better durability and puncture resistance.
|
Two tyres that are popular are the Mich PR's and the Conti 4000s. I ride michelins but these two tyres are comparable- but apparantly- The "s" on the conti's is important.
|
Torelli Torinos. when you weigh ride quality vs. durability vs. cost these tires are my all time favorites. they're supple, confidence inspiring, and in 6 months I've yet to have a single flat.

That's what I am riding currently and I love em. Not a single flat even being a Clyde and good mileage out of them so far.
Really? I hated my Race X Lites, would flat all the time. My Race Lites however were very good. |
Conti GP 4000s

Vredestein Fortezza Tricomp or Schwalbe Ultremo
|
As others have said, the Michelin Pro Race 2, the Continental GP 4000. But I also like the Continental Ultra Race, which can be found for less money.

Me too. Second season. Not a single flat last year, on Paris-Brest-Paris, while hundreds huddled in the ditches, in pissin rain.
They are very fast in independent tests, as well. |
+4 on the Schwalbe Ultremos, my definite fave. The Vittorias will give you an amazing ride, but they will not last very long. The Michelins will give you a very fast ride, but they will cut in 10 minutes. The Ultremos are extremely light, incredibly durable, one of the fastest rolling out there(just behind the Michelins), and also provicde a very comfy ride. Try them out, you won't be sorry.
