Thanks, but no. I wish I hadn't sold my Porsche, but I don't want it back either if you know what I mean. I'll just buy a set a high profile carbon rimmed wheels. Like everyone else.

Wait. People stuck their arms into these things while they were moving, and got hurt, and that made news?
Seriously?
That's ridiculous.

^^ yah that link is old.. maintained by a made up agency targeting cyclists.. and at the end of the page it reveals Litigation Assistance - hence homebrewed propaganda sponsored by a Litigation Agency.
interestingly enough, the address they mention are in Ontario, Canada.. I will try calling them sometime.. this "Vasotech corp"

For anyone interested in the wheels with outboard bearings:
Ebay link
I'd love a set of these, but I've already smashed my face in once, and I'd rather not take my chances. I know CDR said that the ones with outboard bearings didn't fail, but still. A little scary. I bet they're super aero though bleh!
They're a around 430 bucks shipped after the cashback offer.

the first part of the article says the correct spelling is derailleur not derailer,https://dictionary.reference.com/browse/derailleur so your wrong, also "every" catalog Ive seen "in this country" has it spelled derailleur, seems like you only like to look at things your way, do more research & youll find out what a triple rear derailleur is https://www.coloradocyclist.com/product/item/SSBGHWBC , every1 else knew what I meant but you.
I knew what you meant but there is no such thing as a triple derailer (notice spelling)...
That derailer on Colorado Cyclist is long cage "For triple gearing configurations". Not a triple derailer...
Campy has a short cage, mid-cage and long cage derailer. What is the mid-cage for?? A double.5 crankset (actually for larger cassettes)...
And I spell it derailer because I am not French and respect Mr. Brown's wishes...
And, honestly, I not trying to start an argument....
Edit...There are, however, triple specific front derailers...

wow, since this went so off topic, im ressurecting the FAQ that spinergy used up until 1998...
Rev-X FAQ
rev-X wheels are shipped from our factory with a maximum tolerance of .025" (0.64mm) True and .025" (0.64mm) Hops.
Top of Page
What are the weights?
Top of Page
Are rev-Xs Campagnolo compatible?
YES. Spinergy has a special Rev-X wheel and titanium cassette (sold separately) that is fully compatible with Campagnolo NINE speed. We DO NOT offer any wheels that are Campagnolo EIGHT speed compatible. Nine speed cassettes are available in 12-21, 12-23, and 12-25 gearing.
Top of Page
Do rev-X wheels need to be trued?
NO. The wheels have been designed to be extremely strong. Since there are no mechanical connections, there is nothing that can come loose and allow a wheel to come out of true. However, as with all wheels, an out of adjustment hub may give the wheel a certain amount of side to side motion. If you think this may be the case, have your wheel looked at by your local Spinergy dealer.
Top of Page
Do small nicks on spoke edges affect performance or safety?
NO. Minor chips and nicks will not effect structural integrity. The affected area should be lightly sanded down, and a thin layer of clear nail polish should be applied. If the chip is deep into the spoke blade, that wheel should be returned to Spinergy for inspection.
Top of Page
Who makes the hubs and rims?
We do. The rim is Spinergy's custom extrusion. We double heat treat the rims for hardness, but if you manage to dent the rim, we have a No-Fault Replacement Policy. The hub is Spinergy's custom design. It consists of an oversized shell to which the composite structure is bonded. The bearings are sealed eliminating any need for service. The axle is also oversized in order to provide stiffness and accommodate suspension forks.
Top of Page
What is the Warranty policy?
There is a One Year Warranty against manufacturing defects. If the wheel is damaged under normal riding conditions it will be replaced at no charge. If the wheel breaks due to an impact or crash the wheels can be replaced under the No-Fault Replacement Policy. The damaged wheel must be returned before Spinergy can ship the new wheel out. Please visit the Warranty section of this web-site for more details and visit your local Spinergy dealer with your wheel for warranty issues.
Top of Page
What is the No-Fault Replacement Policy?
If you have ever crashed your wheels or hit a large bump or deep pothole with your wheels and damaged them you can replace them for a discounted price. See your local Spinergy dealer for details.
Top of Page
What is the Difference between different model year wheels?
Throughout a product's lifecycle design and manufacturing processes continually evolve. Spinergy wheels have seen upgrades every year since their inception. For '98 Spinergy has developed Campagnolo 9 speed wheels and improved on its Super Stiff and Extra-Lite wheels.
Top of Page
Can rev-X wheels be used on a tandem?
NO. Although the Rev-X design is exceptionally strong, the forces exerted on a wheel used on a tandem are much more significant. Tests of these forces have not been done yet, so the use of the wheels on a tandem voids your warranty.
Top of Page
What are X-Beams and what do they do?
X-Beams are wheel stiffeners that will increase the lateral rigidity of Rev-X wheels between 30-50%. They mount in between the opposing spoke blades and reduce the flex point on the spoke. X-Beams are great for heavier riders or for riders who wish to customize the feel of their wheels. X-Beams do NOT work on Roks-XE's. For installation instructions, click here.
Top of Page
How can I use my cyclo-computer with Spinergy wheels?
Spinergy offers a Magnet that you can purchase at your local dealer or through this website that will work with your Rev-X wheels.
Top of Page
How do I adjust the bearings in my wheels?
See the Hub Adjustment Section of this site for comprehensive instructions on how to service the hubs of all your Spinergy wheels.
Top of Page
My wheels make noise when I ride, what causes this?
First off, the nature of carbon fiber is that it amplifies sound, so expect more noise when you shift your rear deraileur, this is perfectly normal. Some other noises you may encounter can be easily solved, the Spinergy made magnets can "rattle" so be aware of that. Also, if you are using Spinergy extended valve tubes, the valve stem can bang the walls of the valve hole of the wheel. A bit of electrical tape around the valve stem should cure this problem. If unexplained noises persist, have your wheel checked out by your local dealer.
Top of Page
Can I change the freehub body on my wheels?
NO. DOING SO VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY! We realize that cyclists like to make certain modifications to their equipment, PLEASE realize that changing the freehub body can potentially alter the true of your wheel. If your freehub body needs service, consult your local dealer.
Top of Page
What is the difference between Super Stiff, Extra-Lite and Standard rev-X wheels?
Super Stiffs were designed at the request of our sponsored pro riders who asked for a stiffer wheel. Super Stiffs use 30% more carbon fiber in the wheel than the standard or Extra-Lite wheels and come with the optional X-Beams that can be installed at the discretion of the rider. Spinergy Extra-Lites are just that, extra-lite. Using a titanium axle and a lighter rim, we were able to achieve a lighter weight wheel while not sacrificing any strength or durability.
Top of Page
Are Mario Cipollini's wheels different than the ones I can purchase?
Spinergy Rev-X Super Stiffs were designed in conjunction with our pro riders, especially the Lion King himself. Mario does like to have X-Beams installed in his Super Stiffs for that extra edge.
Top of Page
I'm having trouble using the valve extenders, is there anything I can do?
The Valve X-Tenders (which can be purchased at your local dealer) were designed to work with as many tubes as possible. Some tubes work better than others with the valve X-tenders. To improve their performance, use Teflon tape (available at your local hardware store) on the threads of the valve before installing the X-tender.
Top of Page
How can I get some shiny new decals for my wheels?
You can order Replacement Decals for any of your Spinergy wheels from your local dealer.
Top of Page
Can I get my wheels painted?
Spinergy does not offer painted wheels. In the past we have done it for some of our sponsored riders, but it is a long, expensive, tedious process. Also, the way the wheels are made does not lend them to being painted.
Top of Page
Can I put Titanium axles in my wheels?
YES. Spinergy offers upgrade axle kits that you can purchase through your local dealer that will be compatible with 1997 and 1998 model year wheels.
Top of Page
Are Rev-X wheels more aerodynamic than Mavic Cosmic and Campagnolo Shamal wheels?
YES. In several independent comparisons, Spinergy has consistently come out on top. We have done extensive testing which is documented in the technology section of our website.
Top of Page
Are Rev-X wheels legal for mass start events?
YES they are. Current UCI and USCF regulations permit the use of Spinergy Rev-X wheels in all forms of competition.

I have a set of 700c Rev X tubulars with less than 100 miles on them. I was questioning whether or not to try and use them. After all of the horror stories I am a bit apprehensive.

LESS than 100 miles?! woah..
well if you post up some pics of what they look like, or read my blog, i have pretty much gone thru and weeded out all the history that has been hosed off the net regarding spinergy, the rev-x wheel, its weak-points, model years, etc.
There are designer interviews, bearing replacement guides, quoted entire threads from other cycling forums, etc. lots of stuff from 1997 onwards..
on a whim i have started an experiment to stiffen the wheel, reinforcing the quoted 'weak areas' where the spokes meet the rim, and the hub, using commonly available lightweight epoxies and urethane bonding agents.
There is a lot of research, a lot of opinions, and a lot of interesting pictures.
