Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The Spawn and I just whipped up a batch of home made granola, and tomorrow's project is banana nut bread; I'm on my way!

Here are a few pics of the Quincy/Wollaston/Braintree area from our hotel, Boston Quincy Marriot, room on the 9th floor. We arrived just in front of a pretty good snow storm which lasted the day and night. Not too cold until it ended then it was around 5 degrees F.
A couple of photos of snow throwing today after coming home from our pre-Christmas with mom and daughter in Boston area. It only took around 90 minutes to remove the snow so not too bad but it was still a pain after driving for nearly 7 hours then having to clear the snow to get in my garage.
Ah well we are home and safe and sound. We also had a great time visiting our daughter and my mom. This will be the first time my daughter won't be home for Christmas...sighs...
Enjoy.

Chip, your wife makes some fantastic Christmas cookies. They all looked so good that I had to try them. I ride so I can eat. Oh, and G cooks very well. You are on. Just know that I don't fight fair.

Ah, lovely Quincy... growing up I spent many a summer with my hooligan cousins down in Squantum. Good memories!

The snow clearing pics are from home in northern NY and hell no for the mask. Blowing snow in your face when it is near zero F is no picnic. Rather be a warm Fred than a frozen...add term lol.
Also the mask was free...thanks work hehehe...much cheaper than spending close to $100 for a big bulky "shroud" that attaches to the blower so I can be comfy cozy while blowing the snow.

I just got in from clearing my drive. Crazy snow here now. Haven't seen this much snow since I lived in Syracuse.

What's crazy is that we have more snow than you're showing in those pictures. The piles on both sides of my drive are up to about 4 ft tall. I am now also having to grade them back a bit to have room for the next round.

I drove from Aurora to Elgin tonight and was once again amazed at how poorly people drive in snow. We were going straight down a major road here when the guy next to me just starts fishtailing at about 40 mph. He then came into my lane as he lost toal control of the car. I don't know how I didn't hit him. It was in slow motion. I was in instinct mode. I ended up not hitting him, but put myself into the drifts on the side of the road.

I then proceeded to get myself out of the drift that was above the hood......in my Honda Accord.

Thank you New York for teaching me how to drive in snow....the hard way.

Before this last storm we have had fairly warm temps and it has rained quite a bit washing away the snow. This is all from just the past week.
Ah well it makes for a great white Christmas.

Syracuse is already up to half their average annual snowfall total and winter is officially only 3 days old.

We, on the other hand, have had yet another damn ice storm.

Bummer. which race were you in? I did the cat 3 race on Saturday. I split after that, and headed home to do the New Jersey crit. I like the Thater course, though it was my first race back after vacation and I didn't have my best day ever on the bike.

edit: way to be 'random' dudes.

I'll always like you...but using pecans where walnuts are called for makes it really hard to love you.
