Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Did you go up Big Tujunga? Were you with the racers? Take any pics?
No I went up ACH, left around 10:10. Stopped for a spell where ACH and AFH meet, then up to Wilson. Sarah was there with her guy (13 days straight on the bike for him. His "vacation" he said). I suspect you were among the first of that wave and already down by the time I got up there. Temps were so warm around 1pm that newspaper wasn't needed.

Pics and story to follow.

I saw him, (Keith) near Red Box when I was descending and he was going up. His group was an hour behind mine at the start.

Gee. I go away for a few days and you guys let this thread get dropped like a bad habit.

Some things I've learned in the last few days:
  • Pennsylvania has a lot more mountains than I ever imagined.
  • Michigan is REALLY flat.
  • A ten hour car ride is not much better than 24 hours in an airport.
  • The last hour and a half of said 10 hour car ride is absolutely the longest.
  • Even the most proficient navigator can get lost on the highway

PA was in between here and there. The Delaware Water Gap was rather impressive.

Where are you? It would be cool to meet up and ride sometime. Perhaps I can make a BF riding tour this spring/summer.

I'm in the Hershey/Harrisburg area...nice, hilly riding around here. Coupla "Mt Doom"-like climbs, too.

Would be great to meet and ride!

How much time do we all have for this tour?

And I'll only go to Cleveland if Chip's buying.

Might like to go a little further and head to Oregon, too...

Hmmmm....not sure how flexible my summer is going to be. Currently on a quest for different employment; could limit my options for long trips
