Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was born in Cleveland and we left there in 1956. I only remember snow and leaves. Lots of leaves.

ps, Went for a little ride this morning with some fast people and it cleared my head until it was over. Something about having your ass handed to you makes it hard to think about your other problems.

thanks for caring.

We still have icy roads and sub freezing temps here...

One of my ride partners went down on the ice yesterday and had his forearm run over by 2 cars. Both drivers didn't notice or stop. The third car was able to avoid running him over, stopped and called 911. His crushed forearm required 2 plates, 15 pins/screws and many stitches on both sides to close up the access wounds. Also required another set of stitches to close the wound from a protruding bone.

So, no riding outside for me this week until my nerves settle. Instead I went to the gym. I'm already back to my early spring levels.
I.e. 4 sets x 8 reps of 740 lbs on the 45* Leg Sled today. I hope to get it up to 830 lbs by spring.

That "Just Pictures" thread currently running is real interesting . . . a novel idea. I've been spending some time there lately.

it does provide an interesting (and sometimes bothersome) look at what makes some folks tick.

I agree. At first it was clear that folks posted about their primary interest, e.g., the racer types posted a lot of racing pictures, etc. Then it evolved into posting classic images we've all seen, then into funny stuff. Lately it has evolved into competitive posting, with folks responding to other posts with counter-pictures. Really interesting how some folks can find an image to say just what they want to say in response to someone else's post.

The non-verbal thing is fascinating . . . including the people who find it next to impossible to post non-verbally.

There's a lot going on in that thread.

It ended pretty much the way a lot of threads seem to end lately here

I must say... for a while there it had some potential!

I did the best I could guys. With members who continuously feel the need to push the guidelines it became way to high maintenance. Even picture threads need to stay somewhat within the guidelines. Grumpy.....if you have any suggestions please feel free to let me know.

I'm not blaming you Gary.

If people feel the need to be divisive, over-the-top, and obvious all the time then we all miss out on any chance of subtlety and meaning. humor too.

It was an awesome thread that worked well without Vulgarity or Political messages. It was just not needed there. Ill do a quick clean up and try to reopen it. I hate to lose the thread.
