Lazyrider 12-28-08 12:58 AM

Yes Genius, watches. It was an analogy to why I may spend on a particular brand or item knowing that a cheaper product can be as good.

As far as the recall and the inconvenience, the 09 Rival is backordered until mid January and the frame is sitting on my dining room table. :) Looking at the fork steerer right now, It doesn't look any differnt than my others and I wouldn't be too worried about riding it with the Ritchey Stem I am ordering as it wasn't on the list of stems that Isaac said was an issue.

Isaac IS NOT REPLACING anything other than the compression plug. The only thing that sucks about that is if you are a weightweenie, the new expander is longer and probably weighs more by 30 grams.

Glad that worked out for ya then.

Lazyrider 12-28-08 01:53 AM

Bingo, they don't have the shifters in stock. Mid January they are expected. I will be patient and have this Isaac Fork issue resolved by in the interim. Totalcycling has been nice about it but Rival is the hot group right now. Especially the shifters. The Cross guys are really going after the Rival stuff now.

Hell, it is only 100 grams heavier than the new Dura Ace. 7900 is BEAUTIFUL stuff, but man is it expensive. My current Rival works as well as my 7800 Dura Ace so I assume 09 Rival will be even better than my current Sram Rival. Plus with my Isaac frame and the black components, I am going for a real stealthy look. Nice.

Wake me up when you're done talking about watches.

Got my white Aspide saddle today. Think I made the right choice and I am gonna go with a white Ritchey Stem and Bars. Still waiting for 09 Rival.

The 1970's called they want thier door back.

B.T.W nice paint job on the door as well.

Lazyrider 12-29-08 10:08 PM

Well,
My house is actually 1897 and incredibly full of character. That is why they have the show "This Old House" and not "This new ugly prefab-split level house". As far as the paint job, that must be some funky light reflection because it doesn't exist in real life. Glad to see you aren't ripping me on the Isaac though. I couldn't care less what you think.

I used to rock the FSA OS-115 White and FSA K-Wing Pro Compact White on my all black Specialized SL2 prototype. With black bartape and a brithe white saddle, of course. Hottness.

FSA will look better than Ritchey. IMHO. But I actually prefer FSA ergonomics and angles moreso than Ritchey...to each their own. Hot bike. Have you checked into the recall?

fix 12-30-08 08:05 AM

That is actually a beautiful house.

Lazyrider 12-30-08 08:19 AM

Thanks,
In my area it is a modest house, but you have to love old homes to live in one. Drafty, sublte imperfections, smaller sized rooms but it is a cool old house. New homes just don't do it for me.

Isaac has already sent me out the new longer Expander/Plug for the fork. They aren't recalling the whole bike and only want to inspect fork/stem combinations that potentially caused a problem. I haven't built mine up yet so they don't need to see the fork. The issue was with some stems that have the cut-outs where the raw steerer tube partially shows (ie. Deda, FSA stems). So they aren't even recalling the forks for replacement, just inspection.

As far as Ritchey White stem. Here is the stem I am gonna put on the Isaac. And I am gonna get the white handlebars by Ritchey with black bar tape.

Beautiful frame! Congrats! I especially like the white on the inner chainstays. That's a nice touch.

Interesting choice of the Kore wheelset. I've been curious about them since I saw a test of them in one of the mags (CyclingPlus, Cyclesport or ProCycling). Is that a new set or have you used them already to
be able to give me your impression?

Don't let some of these characters bother you. Most are only having fun with you while the others are just hating out of jealousy.

put some cleats on these, and you'll have matching shoes. ;)

Thanks,
I pulled these Kores off my Mongoose Bosberg and replaced them with Easton Sl wheelset. These Kores ride very smoothly but are a little heavy at 1900 grams. They are very good for daily training and stay true. Hubs are smooth and quiet too.

I am probably not going to mount them on the Isaac and am gonna pirate the Real Designs off my Litespeed which have an aero carbon shell and weigh about 1600 grams.
Eventually, I wouldn't mind getting some light American Classics for this Isaac but I will wait.

Why not white bartape?

Lazyrider 12-30-08 10:23 AM

I was thinking white tape but I thought the white stem and bars was less common. Plus black tape doesn't show the dirt. If I go black bar and stem, it will be white tape.

great choice on set up...love the ritchey white wet...with black tape will be perfect..the house is awesome as well :)

id go with botto on the shoes!

im excited for this build....PLEASE let us know how the rival order goes. i am interested in totalcycling customer service.

Lazyrider 12-30-08 12:59 PM

Thanks Enj,
Totalcycling was nice enough to email me to tell me the shifters for 09 Rival were backordered and offered to cancel order if I didn't want to wait. I told them to put aside the rest and email me when parts came in. A lot of other companies would have made me call and follow up so I thought that was cool of them.

As far as the shoes, I almost bought a pair of white/black Adidas carbon shoes off of chainlove. Would have been perfect. The Ritchey White Wet stuff looks awesome, I am excited about putting them on this frame. Patience.

Finally the weenies start to appreciate a build in progress instead of jeering the OP.

And yes, nice house, and yes your house looks cool :)

Oh you did not just put the wheels from your old Bosberg on that beautiful frame. That's sacrilege.

SushiJoe 12-30-08 02:51 PM

I think it's going to be pretty awesome when finished. Looking good so far! :thumb:

I also agree with your assessment of older houses and character. The irony is that I live in a split level. However, the deciding factor was because of its being located close to some of the best riding in Omaha: The Ponca Hills area. Riding won out. Plus my 3 dogs also have a HUGE back yard.
Given my druthers (a word used far too infrequently, in my opinion), I'd live in an older house.
