Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I should have a black/white RS2 with full Dura-Ace 7900 here in just a couple days. Pedal Force wants to ship out the groupbuy orders ASAP.

So after looking at the IP1 I am trying to figure something out.

What is the threaded hole just above the bb for? at least it appears to be threaded... but what is its purpose?

just out of curiousity what's the difference between tube to tube vs monocoque frames in terms of durability/ride characteristics?

Anybody able to ballpark a bottom of the line group from an American component manufacturer?

Anyone on a Pedalforce that's a Clyde? Are they beefy enough?

I really like my Giant OCR Composite, but the top tube is juuuust too long for me. To keep the stem a decent length, and the STI's over the front hub, I have to keep the bars higher than I like. I could actually flip it lower, but it just stretches me out too much.

I think the RS or RS2 would be perfect - the top tube is 1.5cm shorter, head tube is 1cm shorter, and the head tube angle is 1/2 degree steeper. I'd be getting a slightly more maneuverable bike, and I could run a 120 stem.

I'd rather have the RS2 (it's sexier) but the RS is 'stiffer'. Can anyone weigh in?

what's the deal on the QS3? Is it basically the next generation of the RS3 or zx3?

also, what cranks can you use w/ that newfangled BB30, and what forks can you use w/ the assymmetric head tube?

American company or American-made group? Two very different things.

Depends what you consider a clyde. In my maximum fat/post holiday mode I weighed in at 194 on my RS2. Usual weight is 185. Works fine for me, good power transfer, the BB area is really overbuilt and rock solid. Definitely not a noodly bike, has similar ride characteristics to a non-S-works tarmac.

$2050.00 with frame, fork and groupset. But why get Rival when you could get SRAM Red for only $100.00 more?

Or you can get a complete bike for $2124.00 using RS2 frame, fork and Rival groupset.

There is definitely nothing wrong with Rival, but that is a very attractive price for Red.

Cool, thanks. I'm 250. I don't want bone-shaking stiff, but I also don't want to hear the BB click and clack when I stand and sprint - a problem I've had with a couple frames in the past. If it's anywhere near the Giant I should be OK but I always cringe a bit when the first adjective is 'light'.

I must be missing something. Aiming for the 650 frame, a 139 fork, and then a rival group for $1261? No cockpit, wheels, etc? That's pretty spendy.

I was looking at the sexy integrated post frame...

Ahhhh.... I was looking at the top performance frame/fork/groupset groupbuy. You can get frame, fork and complete Dura-Ace 7900 for $2,150 and or Campy Record 11 for $2,750 or SRAM Red for $2,050.

ZX3 or RS2 frame plus groupset of your choice. I was mistaken on the pricing.

$2,050 minus $850.00 for SRAM Rival = $1,200 for frame, fork and groupset. I think that's pretty cheap considering. The other parts (wheels, cockpit etc) are available and are very discounted.

Which frame has the integrated seatpost?

That frame looks nice. You'd have to e-mail Pedal Force and ask about the special discount on groupsets with that particular group buy.

As far as mine is concerned, I got my Fed-Ex tracking number from Pedal Force today so I should have my frame, fork and groupset by friday or monday.

If I buy a Qs3 frame through the group buy, how much is a "discounted" rival group to go along with it??

You'd have to e-mail the folks at Pedal Force. I know the QS3 uses BB30 so I think you are limited to just a few cranksets with that frame.

Or you can run an adapter and use whatever crank you choose. Although that take away a bit of what's nice about this frame.

Damn...ISP.

I lose.

I'm still thinking of snagging a CAAD9 frame in exchange for my RS2...anyone interested in a 54cm RS2?
