Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I like mine too... I still haven't built it up yet, but it looks nice on the stand and everything... thinking of selling it. Will know after taxes come in (or don't).

Can you help a new guy understand why Pedal Force is good/great?

To me, it's kind of like seeing the "Surly" crowd on the commuting forums - folks gush with love, but it's not clear why.

Good quality for low price when bought with group buy. Not necessarily the best but definitely the best bang for buck.

It is not so much that the frames are spectacular (just your average ~1000 gram carbon frame), it is that PF seems to stand behind their product and offer them with good componentry at a very good price.

It seems $650 is the 30+ quantity price, not the 50+...so it looks achievable.

I'd be interested otherwise but if they're shipping the frames after the final payment then I'm loosing on riding season (no frame atm) already so I'll prolly have to pick something else...

if you look through the previous rs2 group buy thread, you can pretty much see what all was going on with that in terms of when people started getting their frames. I think I paid in Feb of last year, and got it in april? I don't really remember. I do remember that I was one of the first to get mine in though... again, still haven't built it up, so that was kind of a waste in a way.

50+ seemed easily achievable, if I recall correctly.

I would not hesitate to buy from PF. I bought an RS2 at the group buy, built it up with Chorus, and it is an outstanding ride. I initially used an 43 easton fork, but I have since bought a PF FKR8 fork with the proper 45, as a replacement. Mine is the all carbon look. Their black and white RS2 is really fine. They have an SRAM promotion on now that is a bargain. The bike rides smooth over the chip seal roads in the country. It's way light - lightest bike I ever had; climbs easy; handles good. Can't rave about it enough. and the PF people are good to their customers - really take care of you. So I'm a true believer, myself.

Ok I will sleep better...the price doesn't include the fork or headset...add those items...which you have to do due to the special sizing...and the price with 50 orders comes out to nearly $900 ($650+140+40+shipping).

Speak for yourself. I'm on my third warrantee ZX3 frame. There were problems with the seattube in all three resulting in poor fit with the (pedalforce) seatpost and eventual cracking of the frame in two of those cases. One of the frames was so bad (seat tube - seatpost fit was so poor) I returned it without even assembling it.

Actually, I just rechecked and there 's a typo in their webpage. Although the bottom chart mentions (correctly) that the 50+ price is 650, in the intro paragraph it mentions the following:

"The first column of the table shows the number of people required in order to get to a particular price level. So we'll need 30+ people in order to sell at $650. For any price level, the number in the "Signed-up" column shows the current number signed-up for that price."

Hence, my mentioning of the 30+ threshold. But yeah, from experience with previous group buy with PF, it seems that the chart is indeed the right one.

Mine has been sitting here unbuilt since I bought it in the group buy. I just hadn't had the time to get it built, plus I already had one of the ADK frames from the BD group buy that I was already using(both are ADKs , both have the exact same geometry ). I'm in the process of getting mine painted and stories like yours are always in the back of my mind, especially since I notice how roughly finished the seat tube clamp area is finished. Oh well, warranty's up on it anyway so that's why I even went as far as painting it. My experience with PF was OK throughout the ordering process but I did run into several issues regarding delivery and incorrectly shipped components that I won't go into here. Suffice it to say, it took a lot longer to get resolved than it should have. However, most folks here have had a much better experience with them. Even so, these new frames, especially the Integrated seatmast one, look sweet (and I HATE integrated seatmasts).
