Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cycling epitaphs

On the way out the door this morning I told the SO I'd be riding one of my more dangerous routes today. Her response: "ok - what do you want on your tombstone?"

Hmmmm....

"He was a dope, but he never doped"

"Till he dropped, he was never dropped"

Old joke that could be used:

"Here lies the body of William Jay
Who died maintaining his right-of-way.
He was right, dead right, as he sped along,
But he's just as dead as though he'd been dead wrong."

I don't have any preference for the head stone. But I would like a recording from my casket for the funeral. It will be my voice and it will start something like this...
"Hey, thank you all for showing up, it would mean a lot to me. The following people still owe me money, you can put it in the basket near my feet....."

Her's mine

Tried to ride fast, only had 2 feet to pass,
Car came a little to close,
Now not ridding so fast,
With a mirror stuck up your ass..
Thinking Why is my face stuck in the grass...
