Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shimano R315 heat moldable shoes, their top of the line. They'll be at the LBS Friday or Monday, and I'll get them heat/vacuum molded. Super excited, my current shoes are too big, they'll get moved to winter duty when I'm wearing wool socks.

Clinchers. I just couldn't face the gluing.

A pair of Mavic Pro Road carbon shoes, I think with real imitation leather. My question is, where do they find real imitation cows?

Decided to pick up the expensive but awesome alternative to a floor pump...a N2 Tank. 60fc tank with regulator. Makes inflation fantastic. Too much $$$, but F it.

And a selle SMP Pro saddle.

Conti Gatorskin. Cost? $0.

I first noticed some light dry-rot cracking between the tread and the sidewall on my front tire, so I brought it to the LBS that was about 1/8 mile away from where I was when I noticed it. The mechanic said that looked to be alright, but he then noticed a sidewall bulge about 4" away from the valve. Threads were visibly torn, so that was the end of that tire. I was going to buy a cheap tire to tide me over until I could afford a set of Conti GP4000s's, but the mechanic said he would look in storage for a used tire for me. He found a folding Conti Gatorskin with very little wear on it (MAYBE 200 miles worth) in a 700x23c (what the torn tire was). He said "here you go. It's yours." So I got a nearly new condition Gatorskin for $0. They normally run $60 iirc, so I got a great deal! I'll head back to the shop when I can afford a matching tire to buy one for the rear. I'll probably switch the current one to the rear and put the new one on the front.

I made sure to destroy the old tire before they threw it out, so nobody could reuse it and get injured due to the sidewall damage. I cut the beads in two different places.

FWIW, the tire had about 1300 miles on it and wasn't showing a terrible amount of wear.

I don't believe Michelin makes any tubular tires. At the least, the pro3 is definitely a clincher only.

So there you have it. They are clinchers.
