I bought both at the LBS. Part of me likes supporting the LBS, but it was a little cheaper at REI (and we know how well they'll support it if it breaks or gets superseded in the next month). Also, I wonder if I should have held out for the K-edge mount...

I agree, I always try to support the LBS when I can. The K-Edge is the same as the bar fly isn't it, just in metal?

So do I - I just hope it doesn't end up costing me. For example, if there is a new 500 replacement available in December then I could simply replace/exchange at REI. REI gives you a 10% dividend, the LBS gives me 15% off (and their price is a little higher to start with) so the price is a push, but buying at REI means I never really have to deal with Garmin for hardware support. I love how they stand behind products. My LBS can't quite match that.
Yeah. Most people I've seen online who have tried the K-Edge after the Barfly like it better. It gets in a bit lower, better position, etc.

Just ordered the SMP Forma Carbon rails. I already have the Forma with steel rails, so definitely looking forward to the extra dampening the carbon rails will provide. I was seriously considering the Full Carbon Lite, since it's almost exactly the same measurements as the Forma, but didn't want to drop $550 on a saddle without being able to test it. Sure I could buy it and return it if I didn't like it, but the only place I could find that carries it at a reasonable price charges a 5% restocking fee.

Finally cracked a rim on my 25-year-old commuter/foul weather road bike, so I just bought a pair of Mavic 36-hole Open Pro rims. Having a new wheelset built up on the original 126mm Sanshin Gyromaster hubs, 'cuz I'm too cheap to coldset the frame to 130mm and upgrade to 10-speed.

Pull the trigger on the Wahoo Ant+ Bike Pack. I'll pop on the extended battery next month if I need it.

been rideless all week without this rear derailleur hanger replacement from Wheels MFG. it's also made of CNC'd 6061 aluminum like the OEM part, but supposedly more durable. maybe more durable = more likely to damage chainstays? whatever, gonna use this to replace the existing hanger that suffered a very untimely demise.

Going back to ZG GSL brakes on the Ridley. Nothing wrong with the Revl brakes but after putting a pair on the Merak, I favor how they look on the bikes.
Plus the ebay vendor I bought them from gave me a great discount since these were my 3rd and now 4th set of ZG brakes I've purchased from them.

Got a franklin bike on craigslist for a good price. Its a custom steel frame out of newark ohio, fits me surprisingly well. Its a bit of a frankenstein build (7700 DA crank, 6600 RD, random other shifters, brakes, wheels. At some point I'd like to make everything match, but first will be a new wheelset

Last week.. Replaced my 11-23 cassette for a 11-28.. Much better for the mtns in western NC.. cleaning the bike after the first ride with the 11-28 on I discovered that somehow I had lost one one but TWO of the bolts that hold the front chain ring on.. borrowed two from my LBS and ordered a set...

I bought a trekking bar for my trek touring bike for more hand positions, it should be interesting to try it out.
