Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

yeah. i adjusted the front one so the back of the roller is perpendicular with the front hub. pretty easy stuff. that picture was straight out of the box. i almost ate $hit the first few times i tried it but once i forced myself to look forward and keep my cadence up, it was easy as hell.

You should set it up so the center of the drum is directly under the center of the hub.

Also, trainer tires grip those metal rollers a lot better than regular tires and make them a little easier to ride too.

you're actually the first person ive heard suggest that you align the front hub with the center of the roller. the local shop plus like 3 different videos i watched all said to hang a string from your front hub with a weight at the end of it and align the weight with the back half of the front roller. thats what i did and it seems to work just fine.

enjoy! (and thnx) I got some Mango Fizz with my last order and like it (also use NUUN and High5 tablets)

Ordered a Lezyne Road Caddy saddlebag. my timbuk2 one is wearing a hole where the saddle tilt adjust bolts rubs. i like that it has a divider that keeps the multitool and levers away from the spare tube.

I also use the Nuun tablets on rides or just when making sure I get my daily water intake. I also use Hammer Heed, and Hammer Recoverite.

New bike!

A stupidly cheap Merida cyclo cross 500. Last years model but still has 105 11 speed.

I took the silly little dinky top brake levers off and tightened up on of the bolts holding the front brake caliper on which was loose as hell (glad I spotted that before bombing down a big hill).

Only ridden it once because my really old shoes with spds are complete crap and falling apart and so flexy and squeak so much they drive me nuts so I had to order some new shoes from wiggle and well, SPD pedals were on sale so I got some of them as the old ones are clapped out.

They should be here next week sometime which gives me time to shorten the gear cables between the shifters and where the go into the frame which are so long that I whack them with my knees when pedalling out of the saddle.

A pair of stupid cheap shield type sunglasses from pricepoint. Amazing value which include 3 different tinted lenses kits and very decent quality considering the price (<$20). Sure, they are not oakleys, but they fill in the fit, function and comfort needs perfectly for less than .1x the price. Plus if they are lost...or stolen...the joke is on them!

Gore Phantom 2.0 SO jacket--it's getting chilly in the AM's now. On sale @ Art's Cyclery!

Also got 5 tubes for $20 with my Art's order.

Used Assos jersey from The Paceline Classifieds--I find a lot of really nice hand-me-downs from fellow cyclists here.

Why not the Bontrager Ion 700? 700 lumens is bright and it has day time flashing modes. The price isn't too bad. The Cygolite Metro 750 seems to get good reviews.
