Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Never had any before, but a month from now will be spending time up in the mountains for the last week of the Giro, and weather promises to be unpredictable, and possibly quite chilly. Every time I look at the weather for the town we're staying in for the first couple of nights (Bormio) it is snowing. Just checked and there are still ski lifts and trails open today. It would be really cool if there was a bit of snow during one of the stages, just as long as it's not enough to create a major hazard or cancel anything (as in 2013).
Nice. My warmers have been invaluable this spring. I think you will love them.

I am building up a Foundry Chilkoot W/ Ultegra Di2, A Ritchey/Zipp cockpit, Wheels MFG BB, Ultegra cranks, probably a White Industries T11 hub at the rear and a Shutter Precision at the front laced to H+Son Archetypes. Hopefully the thing is going to be powered by dynamo instead of plugging it into a wall or a computor like a neanderthal. We shall see right now it is draining my funds quite fast but I will end up with another fun bike I really don't need and isn't that what life is all about?!

Almost all of my bikes have been square taper, mechanical (no STIs), and no more than 9 speed with 2 being single/fixed and all steel except one aluminum SS so I am diving in the f'ing deep end with this project. I do have an actual dedicated road rig in my 6 speed Dura-Ace equipped 531 Cilo and I guess my touring bike but this will be my first modern purely road bike and first E-lectronical shifted bike. WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!

Death to freds...just kidding ; )

I'd go with the 25oz version.

I've been using them since 2010, and refuse to use anything else.

Do the podium bottles eject?

Seems like they don't have enough of a lip to hold them into the cage. Ammirite or no?

I have the regular non-chill version, and I've never had an issue with ejection. They are very secure in the cage. AFAIK, they get very good reviews all around.

I've never had an issue with them ejecting, but I have found a few on the road. In AZ, I don't know anyone that uses any other bottles.

Here is the bike with the new skewers and bottles. What you don't see is the blue accents on the head tube logo. That's what I was trying to match. Pardon the busy rug, but it really ties the room together.

Just curious...why not a matching blue bar tape? Or do you have that color on the bike as well? I know, I know, but I am a sucker for matching everything...

Based on that photo (and yes, I can't see the blue on the frame) it would look amazing with a matching bar tape. Looks great either way, but that is just me wanting to see matching colors, lol.

Bikemate work stand from Aldi for $30. Sounds ridiculously cheap, but YouTube reviews sounded promising, and initial thoughts upon first assembly this morning look promising. Seems pretty sturdy and has more features than my $100 Nashbar stand. They only sell these 2 or 3 times a year, and they just went on sale today. I stopped by my local Aldi in the Memphis area and they had 8 or 10 of them on the shelf.

Legit question. I ordered the hi-vis yellow tape before I knew there were blue accents on the bike. (Bike was a custom build from competitivecyclist.com.) Plus, I like the yellow for its hi-vis to traffic. Perhaps I will go blue tape when warranted.

This cap. Castelli caps fit me well because they don't come down low in the back.
