Went with a different one, All my bikes have the MTB light mount, It’s nice, has a place for cables and such, However, the mount seems to wear out quickly and the light has a lot of play. My madone had started making a rattling noise and I could not figure out what it was. Took the light off and the noise stopped.

Also picked up a bat cage for the underside cage mount on my checkpoint. Dining a longer gravel ride on monday so need all the water I can carry. My camelback sketches me out.

Is that the crazy expensive and heavy Bontrager commuter pro light*? I bought one and it rattled from minute one. Replaced it with the slightly less expensive but still overpriced one.

* It probably isn’t because you can’t mount that upside down thanks to its lensing. Would be like having main beam on all the time.

Just bought one of these Stashed wall-mount rails to try to clear some of our garage floor of bikes. Planning to get it installed tomorrow.

Is this the wheelset? Its 1740g...what is the weight of your current wheelset? I would figure a 20" low profile box rim wheelset would weigh less than 1740g.
Admittedly though, I know nothing about the component weights of folding bikes.

Unsure of wheelset weights. Current wheelset is made of WTB box rims and forged aluminum hubs. The wheelset upgrade has doubled walled 40mm deep rims and hubs w/ disc brake mount blocks. My guess is that this is where the weight comes from.

Additions to my bike tool box

To complete my folding bike upgrade, needed some new and improved tools.

Buys a heavy wheelset to lighten a bike, but doesnt know the weight of the current wheels.
Buys random Amazon stuff and poorly redacts the Amazon prices, as if knowing the prices is bad or matters.

New bar plugs installed, nice little detail. The logos could be printed a little more centered, but whatever, they're at least both the same.

Used it for 4 years. No issues. I ride mostly at 4 am in the dark so it works well. Better than any other brand I have used.

Suspect it’s the same one I got 2nd time.

Still a bit heavy and could do with a few more lighting options but good quality.

Added a Gopro mount to the Black Inc handlebars. Test fitted my new GoPro10.

Just enough to roll back up into my driveway at the end of a long ride. :D

I'm working on a lot of older bikes recently, and I never seem to have enough rim strips in the proper size. I've used quality gaffer's tape for rim tape successfully, but grew weary of cutting or tearing it into the narrow widths needed. So I just bought a bunch of rolls of the stuff in 1/2" (13 mm) and 3/4" (18 mm) widths in 180 ft lengths, so each roll should do about 25 rims.

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...5e3177e40.jpeg

And I know that buying this stuff in colors is pointless because it's going to spend its life buried under an inner tube, but hey, they were all the same price, so why not. And I got all of this for about the same price as 7-8 rolls of specialty cloth rim tape like Velox or Zefal.

jaxgtr 04-04-24 09:12 PM

Due to a lag bolt going through my rim, used the Bontrager warranty no questions asked period to get a new Bontrager Aeolus Pro37V, rim strip, and Pirelli Cinturato Allroad 40mm.

My first foray into electronic shifting with the LTwoo ER9 electronic groupset. I was able to choose between 10/11/12 speed and opted to go with a lightweight all-steel 12 speed 11-34t cassette (sub 250g). The total cost for the front/rear derailleurs, cables, battery holder, shifters and hydro calipers+hoses was $350 w/tax and shipping. It's crazy how affordable bike parts are going with alternative components.

Is this the new version or the older one that one should not bring anywhere near rain and hope for the best?

I read that LTwoo won't release the "blue edition" until later this summer. Though the rumor is that LTwoo has done silent revisions on the production line, so the current batch of groupsets should be okay. Mine came with the upgraded spring loaded battery holder and even the jockey wheels appear different from the promotional photos.

Many of the ER9/X users have been applying dielectric spark plug grease around the connectors to give it moisture protection. I also brushed on a healthy dose of rubber cement around the connectors as a-non permanent adhesive seal and then applied the dielectric grease over that. I'm hoping that should be enough to protect the connection ports. Though I don't ride in the rain much and I still have a back-up Ultegra mechanical bike just in case. I'm really impressed by the app fine-tuning features, replaceable batteries, cassette size flexibility and overall performance. At this price point, this really opens up electronic shifting to more people.

LitePro upgrades

I have a 2012 Dahon Mu P8 that I plan to upgrade next month after a metric century ride at the end of the month. Along with changing out the OEM 8spd drivetrain to a 11spd SRAM setup, I’ll be replacing select aluminum parts with a few carbon fiber components from LitePro & converting the front to mechanical disc brake (rear remains V brake). Of course, replacing the sturdy box wheels with aero double walled aluminum wheels.
