Trek Y-Foil Y-77
I'm saving up for a trek 2.1, but this caught my eye...
https://cgi.ebay.com/Trek-Y-Foil-66-5...3A1|240%3A1318
What do you all think?
It IS pretty old, but those are some nice wheels and dura-ace is kinda tempting...
It'll probably go up, but still..lemme know what your opinions are.
And no shooting it down just because it's a trek.

It's funky as hell, but in a cool way. And those are nice wheels. I wouldn't pay too much for it, but it would be a fun bike to have. Not being UCI legal isn't really a concern, even if you start racing, UCI rules won't apply.

I probably wouldn't be racing.
The wheels cost more than the bike is at on ebay, so that's pretty cool.
Seatpost-mounted bottle cages.

BTW, not that it matters much, it is a Y-66.
I have a Y-77:
It's a very unique bike; that's why I like it so much. The frame design is amazing; designed during a time in which carbon fibre manipulation was not restricted by UCI guidelines. You can still race it (triathalons, RAAM), but not in UCI-sanctioned events.
It's relatively old, heavy, and flexy in the BB area, but since I don't race, I don't mind. It's more of a comfort/art/historic bike IMHO.

Somebody at one of my LBS has one of those. Such an amazing bike, I check it out every time I see it. So does everyone else, it's definitely an attention-getter.
Anybody know how much these actually weigh?

Is sizing on these bikes similar to traditional diamond frame?
Is it harder to ride?
I'm sure it'll probably go up to like $1500...but whatever, it's cool to see.

Of the six Y-foils I can find on eBay, that is by far the nicest looking one!

The auction states that only one wheelset is included in the auction. Your choice.

Yeah, sizing is pretty similar. Handling is just as good as good as today's bikes. The Y-Foil was Trek's top of the line frame when it came out (at one point designed for Lance I heard) and naturally had some excellent qualities at the time.
