Cut off the plug, run the cable through a significantly smaller hole, and splice the wires back together.

Seriously that is one of the wonders of carbon. I'm sure they just added a few layers to the area and drilled it out once the frame was pulled from the mold. I was actually considering drilling holes on my new CKT frame so I could run the wire for my PM through the frame. Once I realized how big the hole needed to be to fit the head of the cable through I decided against it.
I'm not sure I get either one of these references. Am I supposed to?

As you said, installed carefully with no wrinkles or bubbles, it's invisible.

It is but an engineering "stunt" more than anything being the point. That area would have to be reinforced as you mention which adds incremental weight...opportunity for water ingression...the aesthetic eyesore the causes Pcad to wince every time he looks down which is often and potential for cable housing abrasion and immediacy of cable bending as it penetrates the top tube. A long list of negatives in favor of .0001 improvement in CofD.
Cheers Bob.

I have to say, though, if you look at the one picture and see the way the cables run out of the TT bars and into the frame it is cleaner and probably has a lot less friction than the normal DT routing. For this application it is pretty trick.

I can't say I disagree with your point on the 'stunt' aspect of the design. It seems a bit gimmicky but this is almost always true of any departure from the norm.

believe or not, im straight edge. or in the vernacular of your times, a teatotaler. bimbos? yes, i do have a taste for the hussies and floozies. but only on weekends. during the week i work my 9-5 like a normal person. i just cant imagine waking up early enough to do a weekend race, hence the weekly nighters. i think i google mapped augusta and it was a cruise and a half. i just got my license in the mail yesterday, im excited.

Has coddling tendencies.
I can't wait for Sram to come out with their new electronic shifting and braking so we can finally end this GD cable fiasco once and for all.

All that means is that you're an accident waiting to happen in the 4 races you'll do all year, probably Rockleigh. That's why I will convince Stryker John to jump on my wheel when we attack you mopes on lap 5. Then I'll let him come around me and tow us both to the coveted Rockleigh Podium whilst we avoid riding with the Crash 5's.

Hmmm...maybe a good solution...Pcad + electricity + rain = Zzzzzzzz
The thought occurred to me...he could fit some roses in those holes which may validate his questionable pose in the winter picture.

I've had good luck crisscrossing the housing then crossing the cables back under the frame to minimize wear. This keeps the housing off the head tube in all but the most extreme ends of the handlebar movement. But seriously, why keep the bosses on the downtube. Just because frames used have cable stops attached to downtube shifter bosses does not make the downtube an ideal location to place them. I really do like the internal routing and or headtube mounted cable stops.
