Since on my fastest days most people on their recovery rides zip right past me, I have no issues with it.
I will occasionally try to keep from losing sight of someone in the distance in order to keep my pace up for a while, but it seldom lasts.
But then again, not all road cyclists are racers.

Haha...If someone's drafting *me* on one of my recovery rides, they're doing something really wrong. I think my recovery ride speeds are about the slowest I've ever seen lol.
If they pass me, well, I guess that means their heart is still beating .

This sounds amazing but not unbelievable. A few weeks ago I rode about 125 miles from San Luis Obispo to Santa Barbara. The weather was perfect and this is cycling heaven. I did not see another cyclist in either direction until I got into Santa Barbara and then I just saw a few. Cyclists are a very small part of society.

I don't care if people pass me... I prefer if they blow by me, but it is annoying when they eek past me and then settle right in front of me so I'm eating their wheel.
Thanks for ruining my cycling zen...

Joined an elite rider (2 x national amateur champ) on his recovery ride once. We were on a MUP and little kids were passing us. Seriously. Others should take a lesson from his discipline.

I have passed current Jelly Belly pro Phil Gaimon when he was doing a recovery ride. I'm sure that he doesn't care and I ain't bragging about it.

just curious, how many recovery rides should you do in a week? I usually do 1 - 2.

Here's my new game I play. Doesn't matter if I'm recovering or just out enjoying myself. I like having them pass me up a hill because I know they've been staring at me for a while and trying to catch up. I let them pass me and try and make it look like I'm miserable. I'll give them a good 500ft of space, then when a higher grade comes into play I fly by them and never to be seen again. 99% of the time they've drained themselves just catching up to me. Never gets old.
Then there's guys that are just plain fast that pass me. Those people have no lives and just ride a bike all day. F'in losers.

if your recovery ride speed is slower than the person you are passing, do you slow down?

Wow, I must be the only person here that can't resist a carrot. I guess I've still got some maturing to do.
If I'm on a recovery ride and spot a rider ahead or one attempts to pass me, I will give just enough effort to dust them. Then I'll reduce my effort back to recovery. If they put up too much of a fight, I let them go - feeling defeated. If I have a long ways to go and it seems they're going the same way, I'll even intentionally alter my route after pulling away to save face so I can go back to recovery.
But, as mentioned above, 95% of the time I'm out there all by myself. That's why I don't mind "adjusting" a recovery day maybe once every three months.

Maybe not.

For me, I just yell out "I'm on a recovery ride, normally I'm faster than you".

I wear shorts and a t-shirt instead of knicks and a jersey. I have failed to attach cleats to my sandshoes though.

When I first started riding last year, I always rode as fast as I could, always tried to be the fastest guy out there, there was no such thing as a recovery ride. But I learned that there is a point to recovery rides (recovery) and heart rate and effort or more important in the long run. I was passed on a recent recovery ride by a big heavy guy on a mid level bike, he looked so serious as he hammered passed me, I figure he must have been a BFer.
