Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

^ an absurd system where you give someone the free use of your money for a period of time, in exchange for the right to buy an item at the end of the period for a price at which the item would have been availble anyway.

Unless they don't make it anymore and this is the last one in the store, so I'm just securing a bike that could get sold and then I'd be stuck hunting.

I had the opportunity to do a 0% for 90 days credit car but decided that with layaway if I something bad happened I could back out of the sale no harm no foul. I don't like being in debt, the job market is shaky and my car has been breaking down randomly. I can have the cash to pay off 90% and put it on my card in 4 weeks, but if I have an emergency expensive I have till the end of July to get it which is more than enough time.

I just know my luck, if I went in today and put it on my credit card my car's differential would break, my company would cut me or I'd need to get an alien ass slug removed and it wouldn't be covered by my insurance. It's just Murphy's law!

I feel your situation- better safe than sorry.
Lay-away is not a fiscally great system, but in cases like this, i think it makes good sense.

Well there is a condition I didn't like, the $600 I put down is only refundable in store credit, the only reason i went through with it was because I do all my business with this store and they have all the bikes I was looking at. So worst comes to worst yah I can pull out and then I'll have the money to order my other choice, a CAAD 9 frame. I totally agree with you guys about layaway, I've never been a fan and if this was an 09' bike that was still in production I wouldn't have even thought about lay away.

It seems to me that they are waiting for there bikes since there are not very many to go around. Is this how it is? can you guys not find them and you have to wait for them form Cannondale?
