I've been on the forums for at least 3 years now.

I have made MANY calls for legitimate references to unquestionably "shill" posts that BD has put up.

NOBODY has delivered. Somebody previously put up 5 links, and after reading thru them (they were quite entertaining, actually), it was obvious to me that on the 6th page of controversy on each post, the person was clearly not a shill - any "shill" would have ducked out long, long before that point.

I've seen it, straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

There's no doubt in my mind, the proof is irrefutable.

Other than Ravenmore's case, which you seem to have finally put to bed, do you know of others?

Give it a rest. You are obviously emtonally involved, and no amount of examples are going to convince you.

Isn't it a fact that SS/FG types are a lot dumber, more gullible, and less moral than road bikers?

Get it all out there.

Well state what would it take to convince you.

It doesn't matter. You are obviously proud of your BD purchase.

Read the threads

I have an amazing, fantabulous, titanium, 22 lb (real weight) XTR equipped hard tail MTB from Bikes Direct hanging in my garage that only cost $2K. That is rather irrefutable proof. Actually, that is hard (hard tail to be accurate) physical evidence that I ride regularly.

Don't make me post the picture again. You know I will too.

That's the only concrete case I've seen but coupled with the enormous number of suspicious posts, that's all the proof I need.

Not knocking the bikes, I knew about this when I ordered my BD bike, at the end of the day it was the best deal in town and I had 0 complaints.

No matter what the original purpose of this thread was, it has certainly achieved one thing:
Added publicity for BD.

Everyone who has read Dr. Goebbels' diary, or has any understanding of politics, knows well that it does not matter if the publicity is commendable or disparaging - it's always good for the patron.
Thus, BD have again received a good measure of advertising for free.

Cheers!

Ask the makers of hydroxycut how that's working for them at the moment.........

wile e. coyote 05-02-09 08:46 PM

never mind the bikeisland.com flash advert to the right. probably that adds some publicity for BD. some funding for the site too...
imo best deals at bd are on the good wheelset/crappy frame combos.
the bike/car price analogy is okay, except that bikes are marked up waaaay more than cars. I'm talking kilograms of material and number of parts here, not to mention development and testing.

for anything over two grand, i better be getting something special. Non-oxide bearings, custom fit saddle, maybe throw in decent bottle cages instead of $0.05 & $0.10-ing me.

not that I'll ever drop that kind of cash...

for 370 usd the target forge looks perfect for a first purchase, but that's another thread.
