didn't find anything too juicy in the search. wanted to know other stories of satisfied or unsatisfied customers. i know the optik is a hot topic around here so i decided to pick one up at the local PI retail store for the bite of the early morning san diego weather
i walked in the store and the suicide black immediately caught my eye and i was buying it before i even thought about driver visibility...i don't mind, i like it so much i think i'm going to pick up the pearl white as well.im a sucker for accessories, aren't we all?
BTW im 6' 170 and medium fits spot on.

great stuff, made well, they even replaced a zipper in a 10 year old jacket for free! FYI they are now owned by Shimano.

Black jacket for early morning.
Good idea.

I have a PI jersey. Not bad.
I have two PI shells; a Vagabond jacket with removable sleeves, and a Zephyr vest. Very nice.
I had some PI shorts. Hated them.
My PI pittards gloves are very nice, as are my PI AmFib lobster gloves for winter.

Love the Optik stuff. Mixed results with the shorts. Don't like most of their older jerseys, but they seem to have improved their product line this year a lot.
I have the white optik vest and white optik jacket, and they are my go-to pieces any time I don't wear club kit - they fold up so tiny in your pockets, there's no reason to not take them.

My first pair of road shoes were black and white PI Vagabonds.
The sole is a little flexy compared to my Sidi Genius 5s, but it's a great shoe for the money.

I like my screaming yellow Zephyr jacket. A different color would probably be a lot less Freddy, but I like the visibility of the yellow. I might get a red one for XC skiing, though, because as noted, they fold up to almost nothing and are a really decent windbreaker and shell.

I like PI product and like their customer service even better. The only PI product that didn't feel my expectation were a pair of race-lite gloves; the material deteriorated in little more than a year, I got a free replacement pair after calling the customer relations department. They stand behind their product.
My first PI product was a pair of Vagabond road shoes, very well made for the price. I later switched to Sidi Mega Genius 5 because of my wide feet but the price was much steeper too.
I have own multiple PI jerseys, all very well made.
My current PI line up is:
- Barrier Jacket: superb
- Pittar gloves: solid and comfortable
- AmFib Cyclone full finger gloves: comfortable, good weather protection
- AmFib shoe covers: keep feet warm
- Slice Ultrasensor Bibs: very comfortable
- Zephyr vest: great windbreaker, very light, packs well

I like their bibs with the 3D pro chamois, comfortable, well made and last for a long time.

I think PI gives you a good value for your money: good quality and decent prices. Even their cheapest stuff is usable.
I agree that black cycling jerseys/jackets/vests = death wish.

most of the negatives i hear are with the shorts...but they do have a few options in varying prices, and (if) slipstream is (really) using them...i dont think guys who ride that much would chose something that wont hold up and rub them wrong.
about the black vest...its strange because the PI assistant at the factory said they are selling like crazy...and they did only have XL on the floor. it is for the spring 09 season...so i guess it is more for cold/rainy days.
i never really thought about it...but one of our local shops runs an all black kit! another is dark blue.

Yeah, I got PI as my first everything really because I wasn't sure how strong my commitment was to cycling.
First pair of shoes = PI Vagabond M4. I still have a pair that I picked up for $25! Not a bad putzing around shoe
First bib = PRO Microsensor. Still like it but, my Sugoi RS does fit/perform better
Their AmPhib Lobster gloves cannot be beat for warmth and durability. They keep you so toasty that I can't wear them unless it's 20F or less out.
I just got a Slipstream "inspired" argyle jersey. The cut on it really sucks, so I don't recommend the non-slim/pro fit jerseys.
Cheers!

picked this up this spring with my REI rebate- best thing I got this season! Very happy with the quality and fit- I do think their sizing runs a bit small, though.

I have PI winter gloves that I have had for ages and they totally rock!! Neoprene booties for two winters and they are AWESOME!! Summer gloves SUCKED so bad!! Expensive, uncomfortable and lasted about a month before they started to come apart... the gloves seem to be an anomaly in general I think that PI is a well designed and produced line.

The hardest thing about PI for me was finding the right fit, i didnt like the race chamois or the elite, eventually I found the pro in a size smaller and for some reason it fit better.
I definitely like the multi-layer shorts over the single layers and I got my GF a PI jersey and shorts that live up to what i expect from the name they bare.
Go to an outlet if you can find one. I got $200 shorts for $40

How? Mine was kind of expensive. Did you go to the PI outlet store? If so, were there a lot of good deals there?

Our team collegiate team kits are Pearl... I really like almost everything thing about them minus the lack of some type of silicone around the bottom of the bib legs. They ride up horrendously! Very great stuff otherwise. The Jerseys and Jackets/Vests are hard to beat in most cases.
