what is it with caad 9's?

Yes, I'm too lazy to use search.

It is a great frame because? cheap? aluminum? stability? stiff? cheap? compliant?

what's the deal with this frame?

Yes.

Apparently it's the best bang-for-your-buck race bike when it comes to performance.

I'm so tired of having to use the Picard image so I'm going to switch it up.

Like many aluminium frames, they're light enough, strong, stiff, fast-feeling, less likely to crack if you bump into the door frame on your way out, and they're 3, 4 or 5 times cheaper than some carbon frames

For example, on this site, the aluminium Cervelo S1 frame-set is $1,200, and the Pinarello Prince is $5,500

And the S1 feels like you're jogging in petroleum jelly.

You're going to have to step up the juice use if you want to get picked up by RR. You look good in that hat.

Well seeing as how the closet I've gotten to a RR rider is having Jeremiah Wiscovitch push me up a hill last year on a group ride I don't have too high of hopes. :p

Is that good or bad? :)

Do you think they're flexy? I have a 2007 Soloist, and, while I have a couple of stiffer alu frames, the Soloist can't be called flexy. I figure the only thing that could mush up the ride of a Soloist would be crappy, flexy, weight weenie wheels and/or a crappy, flexy, weight weenie fork :thumb:

Nahh I'm just being a jerk, it was a nice frame but it was tested in my case against a System Six and an S3... the System Six was super super super super super super laterally stiff, the S3 was the same stiffness but a softer ride and a much tighter feeling bike, then I hopped on the S1 and found it just too close to my Trek 1500, it was definitely stiffer but not insanely stiffer and more aggressive like the System Six was, I was just a bit under impressed.

Just buy it because we said so. The BF Seal of Approval should be enough, now go make a Cannondale dealer happy.

CAAD9's are 2 better than CAAD7's

Weird. I always assumed that the S1 would be almost unbearably stiff/harsh, though it is probably unfair to compare it to a pair of $7,000 bikes. :)

Buy one unless you can afford something better (there are lots better if you have a little bigger budget).

Meek 05-06-09 08:16 AM

Like what? Examples please... :)
