Weekend Rides

Where are you riding this weekend?

Friday: I just got in from a lovely warm 31 km bicycle ride in the country ... the snow is gone, the leaves are coming out again, the sun is shining. :)

Saturday: I'm still debating ... I'm going to have to check the distance on the route I'm thinking of doing.

kayakdiver 05-22-09 05:27 PM

yes

Saturday I'm leading some of the NorCal group on a century. Around to El Dorado Hills, Folsom, Auburn, Folsom, and back to start.

Tonight: 24mi solo out in the country to the east of my house. I LOVE being so close to rural country roads.

Tomorrow: Weather permitting, probably a 50miler with my club.

Sunday: probably 15-20 mi solo. Nothing too long, hopefully a few miles of that will be with my wife as we haven't gone out on the bike together in a while.

Monday: Club ride and cookout. Not sure where it is this year, I think I should probably go check their website for that here soon. They'll probably have a 40 or so mile ride that I'll likely choose. Maybe take the Gazelle A-Frame out and show it off (and it's old school Nuovo Record group). Oh, and show off that I can out climb most of them even using downtube shifters.

Racing twice on Saturday -- Cat 4 in the morning, 30+ 3/4 in the afternoon. Easy spin on Sunday, maybe I can convince the kids to ride to church with me.

Brian Ratliff 05-22-09 05:35 PM

Racing Sat: 60 mile road race. Track today. Lick my wounds Sunday and Monday with easy rides and skills work at the track (where I'm still a noob).

Pinyon 05-22-09 05:36 PM

Saturday: I'm heading out for a 60-mile ride on a popular local and flat prairie route north of town here (Fort Collins to Rawhide power plant loop).

Sunday: 35-45 mile recovery/slow ride with my local bike club. They have not set a route yet, but I suspect that it will include some climbing in the local foothills.

Tomorrow I plan on riding from Pincher Creek up Chief Mountain and back, the loop is about 116 km. It's always an experience crossing the border on a road bike. :)

Nachoman 05-22-09 05:37 PM

Enjoi07 and I hit Mt. Soledad early this morning. I'm out of town visiting my parents for the rest of this weekend. My next ride may be Monday when I return.

bjupton 05-22-09 05:38 PM

Going down to the American River bike trail and then up around Lake Natoma on Saturday.

Got a pair of real bike shorts, so now I can rock the moose knuckle.

Will probably do something on Monday too, but undecided.

Ride4Ever 05-22-09 05:41 PM

Saturday: 50 mile ride to my local Particle Accelerator. It is called Fermi Lab. Will probably be crossing a river or two, with my local bike club. FUN FUN FUN.

Just a couple 19 mile out and backs near my house. On Monday I am pondering a rematch of a loop in the mountains I tried to do last year and was beaten down due to health issues. A shorter route of 50 miles with around 6000 or so feet of climbing.

tmh657 05-22-09 10:15 PM

Tomorrow it's down PCH to Laguna Beach and back. 40 miles.

Sunday ride the cruiser down to the beach and watch the people that made the journey from the inland heat to stick their toes in the water.

ILUVUK 05-22-09 10:22 PM

Did 33 miles today....nothing special. Would like to do about 50-ish miles tomorrow. Have no plans for Sunday. Will be watching the Quad Cities Criterium on Monday.

MrCrassic 05-22-09 11:53 PM

I'm not riding Saturday or Sunday, but I might do a 95 mile ride out to Port Jervis on Monday.

StephenH 05-23-09 12:00 AM

Sunday, Monday- haven't decided.
Tomorrow- think I'll ride up to Richardson, and watch a bit of the Gary Glickman Memorial Criterium.

Black Shuck 05-23-09 10:12 AM

Did 313km yesterday, don't think I'm going to do anything today. Slow ride with a friend, maybe 50km or so on Sunday.

Steve90068 05-23-09 10:14 AM

Heading out in a few minutes to do the Crystal Springs Trail http://pages.prodigy.net/rhorii/xtalsprg.htm

StephenH 05-23-09 01:39 PM

Made it up to the races. Gary Clickman Memorial Crit in Richardson.

Friday: 20-25 miles out to this new development where the airport used to be. miles and miles of brand new pavement, zero traffic, long, straight and flat. I was riding as easy as possible b/c I did 15 miles of interval stuff Thursday.

Saturday: nada. Swimming with the kids.

Sunday: 50-70 with the Violet Crown crew. No idea where or how far we're going.

Monday: undecided, but there is another VC group ride if I have anything left in the tank.

Note: I haven't decided on a computer/meter/whatever setup, so I've got nothing on my Waterford currently. I'm really enjoying riding without any information other than what my brain gets from my body, bike and surroundings. Plus the bars look so clean. :)

substructure 05-23-09 01:47 PM

I rode 50 miles to Morrow Mountain State Park, climbed to the top, and rode 50 miles back.

I did a 60 mile loop by the Chesapeake Bay. The hill workouts in Dallas were not much help and I had to hang on to the back of the group I was with the last 5 miles just to survive. It was a great ride though, and very beautiful.

khatfull 05-23-09 03:49 PM

Saturday, 51 miles, 2:52. Beautiful day, great ride. First half century. I'm stoked. :D

RideCO 05-23-09 04:00 PM

Yesterday 58 very tough miles with a lot of climbing including a bunch of 10%+ sections, once my 305 claimed I was climbing 18%, certainly felt like it.

Today, went down on a MUP on a recovery ride... how embarrassing. I just didn't see that mud, got a little road rash.

Two more days to go.

BarryJo 05-23-09 04:14 PM

Today 53 mile group ride, I like the guys who do the ride, but with no hills it lacks any challange and becomes, well, rather boring. When we finished up I did another 26 mile loop around some of the hillier terrain in my area and then got yelled at by the wife for 4+ hours on the bike
Tomorrow is a forced day off to help the wife prepare for our annual Memorial Day cookout.
Memorial Day I am hoping to get 65 miles in and around the roads of No Central Ma and So NH. Hopefully the weather will hold out.

I sent my wife to the beach with the ladies. Her yelling is quite dim, if you know what I mean.
I have 15.5 hours this week on the bike. Didn't hear a peep. ;)

"raced" today. Got taken out on first half mile. Tried for about 10 minutes with someone else to catch back up to the three's, but eventually we lost hope and just waited for the group behind to pass us. Eventually the master's caught us, so we just rode the back of the field. Turns out the masters are a bit slower then the three's. It was a tad bit more relaxing.

The wheel car was non existent. My teammate flatted on like mile 4. Waited 10+ minutes, four fields pass, but no wheel car.

Friday: Watched from windows the 24/7 rain that has been hitting FL for the last week nonstop. Actually, I have not been able to get out since last sunday because at the time I can ride early in the morning there has been torrential rain and tons of wind. I don't mind getting caught in the rain, but it is hard to convince me to go out in the rain from the beginning.
Saturday: Rain stopped for a few hrs this afternoon, so went out on a quick 38 mile ride. Still some wind, but not nasty.
Sunday: I am hoping to get in 65 miles in the morning if it is not raining.
Monday: same as sunday.

mint-sauce 05-23-09 04:35 PM

The plan was to do a 60-70 mile solo ride today, heading into the hills after the 40 mile mark, climbing up to about 800ft within about 5 to 6 miles, with a nice decent of about 12, before the last few miles home. Wind, rain, and not even being able to see said hills this morning till after lunch time, due to weather reduced that ride to a short spin of 20 miles, nearly all at sea level.

Going to try and aim for same hills tomorrow or monday, weather permitting, although other plans might reduce the ride to 40 odd miles.

I've got frequent flyer miles from work travel that I offered my wife for a long weekend with her friends. I figured Florida, Vegas, whatever. Her response? "You'd like that wouldn't you so you could have all weekend to ride your bike"
Yeah, I would.....
Glad you enjoyed your "vacation on the bike"!
