Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Castelli

I buy a Cervelo jersey because it looks cool (same reason I bought my Cervelo bicycle). It's a full zip Castelli.

By FAR the nicest piece of bicycle clothing I've ever owned. I will try other Castelli garments going forward.

Discuss.

Agree with one caveat....Who the hell do they make these for? I normally wear a Medium/Large. I ended up needing an XL to fit me and it's still snug.

That's the Euro cut you fat fat fatty American.

The large size Castelli fit me very nicely. Maybe I'm getting skinnier after all.

Well my sizing had nothing to do with being fat but I understand your "reputation" here. Mine was WAY too narrow in the shoulders and I weigh 155 pounds soaking wet.

Perhaps the sizing is their way of reminding us that we are all too fat for this sport.

Besides, if you fit into a medium or a small then you could do irreparable damage to your self loathing.

I've got one, nice Jersey. Not sure if it's significantly nicer than some of the others I have. Agree that the sizing is small, I wear a "M" in the Castelli and it's tight. In US sizing, I have Smalls that fit with a bit of room. Other than that, it's a jersey. Seems to be a nicer jersey than some of the cheaper ones I have, like a made in China Cannondale Jersey that looks like it has a few "pulls" after 1 or 2 uses (It was crazy cheap from PBK, so I can't complain much).

I did notice the Castelli wasn't made in Italy, might have been cooler if it was

They're nice if you have a long torso and don't have a big gut. A few others I've tried (PI, can't remember who else) all felt like short, baggy t-shirts in comparison.

I just got serious about road biking this year and without knowing much of anything about the different clothing makers ordered three castelli bibs and jerseys online a couple of months ago mainly because I liked the designs/aesthetics of them the best.
So far I'm very happy, good to hear that others like castelli as well.
I agree that the sizing does run small but just order one size larger than normal and you should be fine.

A Castelli jersey is best piece of cycling garment you have ever owned?

LOL, I thought for someone who rides as much as you do, you'd already invest in Assos, De Marchi, or Santini garments.

WTF does Santini and De Marchi have to do with Assos?

I've been impressed by Castelli's design and fit, but totally under impressed by the quality of their product. The gloves fell apart on me, logos peeled off.

Polyester bike clothing, like all CF frames, are made from the same Chinese clothing factory.

Discuss that.

I've got a Castelli longsleeved jersey. It was my first high quality bike clothing purchase 6 or 7 years ago. For awhile I wore it nearly every day during cool weather. Still going strong. Love that jersey.

Santini and De Marchi is Assos-lite, for those not yet at Assos territory.

I mostly wear Verge stuff, that's my team's kit. Plus some Pearl Izumi leg/arm warmers/shell, etc.

I invested in sponsoring a local race team. I thought that was a better use of the $. Cycling fashion is for friggin Freds.

That being said I'm loving the high quality feel of that jersey. I could get used to that.

have one pair of Castelli bibs (not sure if it's the KISS pad or not) and I likes them very much; I'd put them on par with Santini, but keep in mind I've not spent over $100 on a pair of bibs. Yet.

The long sleeve jersey I have (thankyou, steepandcheap) is veery nice as well. Fits the 50s temp range perfectly....
