Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I spent quite a bit of time in that neck of the woods, mid to late 90's...Touring about, seeing the sights, I even used to be able to speak enough Serbo-Croat & Albanian to get by

One day I'll make it back and bring a bike with me...

Very bike friendly area you should make a point of checking it out. Tour DE Scottsdale rides through here as well.

Just realized I wrote, "now" instead of "know" - I swear my keyboard skips letters sometimes.

I will have to try to get out there sometime. Someone told me I should check out the Tour of Scottsdale too, might do that as well.

^ epic!

How about some less than paved road:

-- was an "interesting" ride even with some fat 700x33's at times.

Photo from last year, one of the first rides on my Kirk Frameworks:

This is on a regular route I take at the end of a climb that used to kick my ass but doesn't anymore. At the top of the hill, I turn off on this road -- behind me I can see vineyards for days stretched out against what is often a lovely blue sky. I've done this ride dozens of times and yet every time I get to this corner, I think "wow, I love living here". Best part about this photo is it was taken at 8:45 p.m. -- we still had another 35 minutes of light after this was shot.
